I saw this picture before but I somehow missed the Drunk from Byleth's giant mug of ale(?). That said, this seems like the sort of thing she'd do even when sober

This could have been a medieval artwork, but there are nine objects which keep it from being a medieval picture... what are they?

This is one of those, hidden object pictures. Except with Yuri. It looks like Annette and Mercedes are double-teaming Ingrid. Marianne is pretending she's not ogling Hilda. Petra and Dorothea are recording the event for later blackmail. (Dorothea will extract a healthy dowry from the Adrestian Empire when she marries Petra) Rhea is trying to put a stop to all this debauchery (or, take Edelgard's place).
Lysithea x Sweets have their own thing going on. And Bernadetta is a Strong Independent Woman.

@Clueless1 I was gonna comment is this pic alternate reality? Some stuff in it can't exist in the Fire emblem setting.
That said I only see the smartphone, and the swim ring and beech balls? What else you counting? I mean the straws could be paper, they could make the glass stuff- the surfboard might be painted wood, the umbrella shade thing might be material.. dont really see anything else out of place.

or maybe given the smartphone it is actually meant to not be that world at all and be like set now on earth?

Its a fantasy world tho not medieval earth- no reason they couldnt come up with those swimsuit designs, or surfboards made of wood- nor the umbrella- nor a straw, as long as its not plastic.
You can't say surfboards and the umbrella design or the swimsuits are 'modern' designs- because its not earth. They coulda come up with them at any point on whatever that world is called. They dont need any advanced production methods they shouldnt' have.
The only things I would say are outright 'not possible' for a fantasy world without modern tech- is the phone and the things that HAVE to be plastic- i.e the beach ball and floats.
Ofcourse the items you pointed out DO all make it LOOK 'modern' to us rather than fantasy like.

magic could just as well invent a plastic-like material and electronic-like systems, anyway. magic is often just portrayed as words and commands and that's basically programming.

^Yup this is true- but i was ignoring the magic angle- we dont see any magic used to make modern like items/materials in the game but that doesn't mean its not possible- but if we are talking magic too, then obviously almost anything is ok because it cant be ruled out if you can just say 'by magic'.

@ArcaJ You missed Leonie making a beeline for the ocean (at least, I’m pretty sure that’s her at the top right) and the fact that Hilda looks like she’s preparing to Gallagher a watermelon. Also, I’m not sure that Dorothea could extract a dowry from the Empire for marrying Petra since, you know, Brigid is an different country. Now blackmail, on the other hand...
@Clueless 1 Funny enough, you could argue the surfboard is “medieval” (although not in the usual European sense), since the Polynesians were likely rocking those things long before Europe’s Middle Ages (which is generally what Medieval is implied to refer to). The artificially colored fruity drinks and whatever syrup Lysithea is pouring on her ice are probably a bit more modern, though. Hell, if we’re referring specifically to real-world technology and aesthetics (since fantasy is far more nebulous to define in those terms), the picture is far more modern than it is medieval.

@RandomGuy It's usually the bride's family that pays the dowry. Since Petra is going to rule Brigid, she takes the "groom's" position. Also, I headcanon Dorothea being adopted into House von Hresvelg, because of all she's done for the Empire, and Edelgard just loves her. I can just imagine El going full mom-zilla on the wedding plans.
Since she's going to marry Petra anyway, might as well get a few treaties out of the deal.

A sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. Though that's not the point, I just like that quote.
But I thought the smart phone was a dead giveaway that this is just a bit of fun/au. Though to play Devil's advocate are we just going to ignore the ICBMs that show up in the third act of most routes in Three Houses?

^I’m fairly certain they only appear in Claude and Rhea’s route (which are practically the same route anyway), along with a fair bit of surprising (but not unwelcome) dubstep. If you ever decide to replay the game and see for yourself, I’d recommend doing so with the Golden Deer, although you will have to bring someone in to fill that route’s yuri gap.
