A little more shading for musculature, no need for bodybuilder contour lines. The ones you have is plenty enough. I’m saying this because you’re already using color.

^ I hope you realize none of these artists see your critiques. You’re better off making a pixiv/twitter account and directly commenting on their art instead of arbitrarily ranking every drawing here

@Clueless1 - It's about time to stop this bullshit. Nobody fucking cares, and you look like the internet version of the schizophrenic on the street talking to himself.

As an art student myself, I think Cueless1 has good points and I'm sure if someone here likes to draw too this feedback can be useful and debate if necessary but never silenced.

^ If this was a site for artists where the pictures displayed were based on artistic merit, I would wholeheartedly agree with you. Every single batch of pictures on this site is just a mish-mash of yuri pictures requested by users or liked by the mods, though. Arbitrarily assigning them a ranking among other random pictures that just happened to be uploaded the same day, along with "art advice" speaking directly to the author that said author will never see is something that a mentally ill person would do, and it needs to stop.

as an art student myself too if i was making dirty yuri id either ask for it on a site i can see / im just posting the art bc its what i like to do, seeing that we get a lot of the same artists here. while i wouldnt go as far to... tie it up with mental illness bc im gonna assume we arent doctors, this is not an art site-- its a site for people to enjoy yuri. yea criticism shouldnt be silenced but if its not asked for constant criticism is a HUGE downer, for both the artist and enjoyers, and unheard criticism is not constructive. ive very rarely seen artists themselves on sites like these?

im literally here for kanan x riko then i see all this, im sure no one else wants it?

^Because Clueless1 has been annoying us for weeks now, but most people have just hoped they'll go away if we ignore them. No such luck.

@ Amersion_: Yes, I am! And I do this like comedian Andy Kaufman-style... yes, a user name matching the craziness of grading artwork on a yuri manga website points to someone having time on their hands to have fun at assuming the role of someone taking the art seriously enough to grade them here.

This is my way of saying thank you on a free website—free critiques on a free website... I hope someone sees the humor in that. I guess my punchline has been made.

I was hoping for this to catch on in making comments more lively in images and elsewhere on this website.

@Bugpope @Throbelisk I fail to see why this is such a big deal. Clueless has done nothing wrong. All they’re doing is calling out their 3 favorite pics of each post. Yes, it’s an ounce outlandish and arguably arbitrary, but it doesn’t hurt anyone and they have fun with it. Now, if they were spamming, trying to start shit/drama, or just being a general dickhead, then I’d be right there alongside you to (in spirit, though, since I tend to lurk). As it stands, though, I don’t see any reason to get all worked up over a couple of short, easily ignored posts. No need to make mountains out of molehills and try to rain on somebody else’s parade.

^ i dont know bro, for me, someone usually just lurking and trying to enjoy some yuri, its really fuckin annoying to see someone just throwing rankings and (nonconstructive) criticism in a place where im trying to read peoples quick reactions to a cute image being... cute. I dont care if you think this is the best or worst picture or whether the artist’s shading needs work, i just wanna see some homies who think on the same wavelength with me that yuri is (usually) cute regardless of how good the drawing is. Not only that but ranking the images LITERALLY implies that you believe all the other images presented are not as good as the ones ranked due to your shit ass superficial ranking system, which no one else cares about. And also the problem is they arent “easily ignored” because you cant block on the image forums (to my knowledge), and the only way to “ignore” a message is to read its contents to see if you want to ignore that but wait... by then you havent ignored it!! Nice. Sorry just had to vent but regardless of if these comments are some “witty humor” or some shit theyre still annoying, unwelcome, and without purpose as it adds nothing to an image but what seems like an attempt to validate the original posters opinion which no one else cares for

I'm sure the moderators have their eye on Clueless1. They have trolled before, & they have been banned before. It's telling that they model their behavior after a professional asshole.

Lojsdbe
RandomGuy Aug 15, 2020 1:19AM

^^ Alright, let me clarify that. When I said “easily ignored,” perhaps I should have said, “easily forgotten.” In my experience, here’s how it goes. I look at the picture, I see the Clueless comment, I shrug, look at the other comments, look at some more pics, and by the time I finish, I can guarantee you that I won’t remember which one Clueless1 thought was best, or what they thought of the shading on another one. Like you said, no one cares about their rankings and the system appears to be entirely superficial, so why get so worked up about them? Just come in, enjoy the yurt cuteness, smile at the comments you like, forget about the ones you don’t, and continue on your way a little happier than you were before arriving.

Also, I’m sorry that not everyone in the comments is on the same “wavelength” as you, but that’s just kinda how things go. It’s an open comment section, and people are allowed to say whatever they want to about the image in question (so long as they’re not trying to start drama and are following the site’s rules) and express their opinions on whether or not they actually like the work being shown. It’s not fair to attempt to silence them simply because they don’t validate your opinion that yuri is cute regardless of quality.

Oh, and apologies for arguing semantics, but how is Clueless’ critique non-constructive (at least in this particular case)? It points out something the viewer doesn’t like (the way the muscles are drawn) and presents a recommendation for improving the work in their eyes (remove some of the contours and add more shading). It’s not put in the most encouraging way, of course, and I can’t tell you whether or not it’s good advice nor would the artist- if they ever read it- be obligated to make those changes, but it’s still fairly constructive in my eyes. Non-constructive criticism would be more like “I don’t like how the muscles look,” as that gives the artist nothing to go on and simply exists to put them and their work down.

@Random Guy the main reason that his comments aren't constructive is because it's not directed to the author/artist.
I get it. What he does is all fun and games. I even laugh at how he's been maintaining his in-character comments. And I do think his dedication to stay in-character is admirable to a degree. But that doesn't make his comments any less annoying nor does it make it constructive.
