^researchers 'round here say wild wolves today are actually so hysterically terrified of humans they don't really even struggle when you tackle them (for the purpose of taking medical samples and fitting tracking collars to map the population) - they basically just freeze completely and are trivially easy to sedate. (With bears, though, a guy standing by with a rifle for emergencies is mandatory.)
