I would recommend Atelier Sophie, Shallie and Ryza (you don't need to play them in order)
HANDHOLDING!!! these two don't need a love potion, official art is so greeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaattttt

Handholding + Official: B-But I thought that the Atelier games are for good boys and girls. Joking aside, I'm glad to see this here since Ryza 2 was annouced yesterday.
@Azero25 Atelier games usually comes in trilogies, you can start at the beginning of each one.
I will recommend to start at Ryza since it's the trilogy just started and it's easily accessible. Although, if you want to play some of the older games, then play the Arland Trilogy(+ One).

You can't tell me Klaudia didn't have a major crush on Ryza~
Hope they expand upon that in the sequel.
Also this was my first atelier game. It was kinda basic but i really enjoyed it

^^ you should probably mention that the older games are way harder in case they check out something like Atelier Annie.
I recommend starting with one with a time limit just so the transition doesn't feel super weird. Eg. Sophie -> Firis. But Sophie is super gay so idk
Anyway, very cute official~

I've only played the Mysterious series + Ryza and Lulua. Out of those, I think Firis was my favorite. The open world and multiple non-dlc costumes (and the broom-riding!) for Firis really spoiled me. The games after that just felt so incomplete and short.
Ryza was a beautiful game, though, and now I'm looking forward to the next one.
Lulua is pretty fun, but you lose out if you haven't played the earlier games in that series. There are returning characters, and some of them have some very yuriyuri moments. Lulua herself has some VERY nice yuri moments as well with the various characters.

So apparently, "Klaudia admits to being in love with someone and tries to ask Ryza if there's anyone she loves too before changing the subject if Ryza talks to her in the post-game, and the only person she's shown to be overly attached to is Ryza."
edit: Also, I'd really like to get the game, but trying to find an affordable Switch version is apparently incredibly difficult.

Firis and Ilmeria from the Mysterious series are such a good couple too, I wish there was more art of them!

@ckretaznmayden: Yes, it's pretty obvious she's talking about Ryza herself. But still, don't expect anything from it or the sequels, Ryza was extremely light on yuri or relationship teases in general, at most there was a little bit of Bos X Kilo (two NPCs). Arland it ain't.

I remember Atelier Iris 2 having a lot of serious yuri not subtext. Like an enemy general who doesn't attack but repeatedly helps you because her "childhood friend" has become one of your party members; a yandere stylist who, when spotting a girl she considers beautiful, tends to go crazy & give her an involuntary makeover; & an alchemist who needs to recruit a harem of mainly beautiful female spirits in order to use her skills properly (the game had 17 elements).

I only played Sophie and it's pretty gay and cute. Shame that Firis in canon het, that discouraged me to continue with the next one in the trilogy.
Guess that I will wait to see what happens in Ryza 2 to see about getting Ryza. Meanwhile I haven't played yet Totori.

Totori is great! The characters and story are better than Rorona and Meruru in my opinion. And the yuri subtext heh. Though Meruru's yuri subtext is even greater.

@rincewind Lydie&Suelle actually references the platonic version of Heintz' end, so the pairing's not necessarily canon.
Also, Sophie and Plachta are all but outright confirmed to be together by the end of it. The ending cutscene laid it on as thick as it could without explicitly stating it, or them making out or something.

Iris Trilogy: Atelier Iris 1 > Atelier Iris 2 > Atelier Iris 3
Arland Trilogy + One: Atelier Rorona > Atelier Totori > Atelier Meruru > Atelier Lulua
Dusk Trilogy: Atelier Ayesha > Atelier Escha & Logy > Atelier Shallie
Mysterious Trilogy: Atelier Sophie > Atelier Firis > Atelier Lydie & Suelle
