I know nothing about the game, but why do I get the feeling getting her eyes open is going to cause something really bad?

^ typical "you're fucked when the usual closed eye character open their eyes ". Usually that character will become serious when his/her personality are always seen to be calm or an airhead who love jerking off. So just don't open people who have slanted eyes or..etc

In game when her kill skill activates she opens her eyes, lore wise it's because she's an advanced prototype model and opening her eyes causes sensory information overload that only balances out in battle so she can see just fine with her eyes closed.
