Has the "two lesbians literally have no idea how to do it" trope ever happened in real life?

considering the stories I've heard from straight folks awkwardly fumbling through their first times in high school: probably

Through sheer probability it has to have have. And if you're talking about a general level of not knowing how to do it, then yes. Until every society, school, community, family, etc. everywhere somehow manages to provide explicit education on how any individual can have sex, there will always be people unsure of how to do things like that.

@Bugpope You'd be surprised. I've never heard of a lesbian or gay couple having that issue (probably due to being more uncommon than heterosexual couples combined with them more frequently keeping their romantic life private) but I've heard numerous stories of heterosexual couples having no idea how to do it. In several of those stories both individuals had been married for several years and were confused about how they hadn't had a child yet. It sounds ridiculous but people are ridiculous.

@Alice That makes plenty of sense for me. I imagine gay folks would be less susceptible to "How does the thing work" unless neither has ever experimented with their own body.

This kind of thing is great in stories because it can lead to situations like "lets just explore each other until we find something that works".

^I mean it doesn't hurt to do a bit of that even if you do know how things work in general.

As for het couples not understanding... I literally can't imagine how that's possible even without education. Building furniture from Ikea is more complicated and those include instructions.
