I think that's suposs to be their past self and if they're indeed cute, remember that one have past most of her childhood in hospital because of a curse and the other has no parents and was a magical girl.

and now in the recent chapter knowing a little more about both their past its kinda heart breaking.
But like the other one said , this story is more about healing one another in the present and future.
