yuri remake

There is an amazing yuri fic about these 2 hooking up- set through the game and then bringing her back from the life stream after etc etc- I WISH I could remember its name and track it down, damn it..

I read it 10yr + ago and no idea where or what its called, but i've looked some and could never find it..

^There are a loooot of fixer fics where Aerith comes back. Personally I feel it cheapens the impact of the game if you do that though.
There is beauty in the emphemerality of her life. Like a flower that only blooms for one day.

Been playing the remake for a while now, and it literally has fuel for every possible ship so far, including Aerith x Tifa.

@BugDevil I bet there are not a lot that do that and pair her up with Aerith :) and the fic runs through the game before it got to afterward and bringing her back- it also did it very well and took effort, not some casual nonsense- and was the size of an actual 300+ page novel..

I agree in general - but I don't think it's fair to say she HAS to to die. How sad is that? All she'd worth is a tear jerker moment and has to stay dead or she isn't beautiful? I think its all in the execution- no pun intended.. and how it is written.. It would cheapen her story only if it was done BADLY. Imo.

Remember she even pops up in advent children?

^Most of the ones that have Tifa x Aerith beyond the point where she dies usually do. Setting up the relationship well doesn't really change the outcome in any way.

Aerith death was implied to be necessary for the game to end the way it did. It was almost inevitable and required. Saying it was only done to be a tearjerker moment is kind of devaluing her part in the story. I am sure some people can write it believable enough with careful retcons, but I don't exactly got my hopes up after everything I read.

Don't remind me of Advent Children. -‿‿-

Tifa making girls gay since the 90's

^^ I dont remember any reason why she had to die or how that achieved anything? I thought Sephy just offed her coz he's evil- I know they put her in the life stream but I don't recall any significance to that- beyond giving me hope she could somehow come back from it.. But its been many years since I played it.

I wonder if they will let her survive or give a possibility to save her in the remake when we get to that bit?
Probably not- it's too big and important a moment.. If they want to pander to all the fans you could do a post ending DLC where she can be saved I guess? tho I doubt they will.

^The director at the time wanted to make a statement so it was more of catalyst for change rather than a necessity of the story. Most of this is from memory and I could be wrong but at the time the director lost someone very important to him and thought he could use this game to teach children the importance of coping with that loss, and was tired of how every RPG up to that point never raised its stakes or showed any consequence for the dangerous situation they were occupying.

So,no, there should never be a DLC that raises Aerith because that will, imo, contradict the entire point of the message.

I love this.

SushiKnight Apr 18, 2020 2:13PM

^^ But isn't it better to teach children the importance of bringing people back from the dead with a magical feather? That's a pretty vital lesson.

(I wonder how he feels about Aeris' death becoming a meme on the level of Darth Vader being Luke's dad?)

BugDevil Apr 18, 2020 2:14PM

^Not as much of a meme as calling her "Aeris".

SushiKnight Apr 18, 2020 5:22PM

Fight me.

BugDevil Apr 18, 2020 5:33PM

^I don't need to. Every single official material since the first wrong translation has done that for me. ┐(´∀`)┌

SushiKnight Apr 18, 2020 5:52PM

I'm actually more of a Dragon Quest person. I like the materia system a lot though. :P

Tenebrae Apr 19, 2020 1:00AM

^^Same for me. Dragon Quest is my fav. But FF is neat
