I remember this ship starting almost the day after Brigitte announcement trailer. I think it was because of their closer ages and affinities for robot suits.
Also the cat thing. Probably the cat thing.

It's a scarcity thing, before brigite D.Va was a lot younger than all the other characters and most of the other young women like tracer were already paired off in more popular ships.
The cat thing is just icing on the cake really, like the haloween mercy/pharah skins.

I remember back when Sombra was being teased, people were hyping up to ship Sombra and D.va, but then suddenly Sombra was revealed to be 30, and that train derailed QUICK. Nevermind that their both adults, and FICTIONAL.
