Navel testing, I mean, tasting. You can’t do that with men, for it would have been full of lint.

Is this a continuation of the previous image?

I was wondering, when did Mako and Yoshida get so close?
I mean, it's a nice ship, but I literally don't remember when they started talking. It might be time for a reread.

^Honestly, Yoshida has a lot more chemistry with the little brother than with Mako in the manga. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up being a thing.

^ That's an overstatement if i ever heard one. Yoshida and Tomoki had like what ? 2 or 3 encounters ON THE WHOLE MANGA. I don't really understand the logic behind this ship, not to mention that Yoshida didn't even know he was Tomoko's brother before she come to her house because of the rain and it's the last time they encounter. Not to mention that Tomoki don't really care about her.

^Oh yeah, I forgot about that image set. I wish the creator kept on updating it with newest chapters.

^^Most of those instances could be chalked up to Mako simply being a really nice person, which she is. She still hangs out with little miss fang for crying out loud.

@Lilliwyt - The fact that the author even bothers to have two people of the opposite sex that don't normally even see each other interact usually means that they have plans for that relationship in some form. It could be as enemies, friends, or something more. Manga artists have a finite amount of space to show their story and very carefully consider which character interactions are shown. And finally, Tomoki doesn't care about anything right now except soccer and school, so that part is completely irrelevant.

Yoshida only got those interactions to piss off Komi-something because she is a delinquent with an aggresive attitude and so she most likely will call Komi back on her shit to try to mess with her for nothing.

And finally, Tomoki doesn't care about anything right now except soccer and school, so that part is completely irrelevant.

That's the main problem, Tomoki doesn't care about Yoshida so I don't how it will work. Not to mention the few interactions they had and well the fact that Yoshida go to college just at the end of it. Unless Nico force it, I don't see how it will work.

^And you're not understanding that he's only 15 or 16. He doesn't have to care right now, especially with how much time school and after-school activities take up in Japan. He's a star of a sports team, so he's probably been told by his coaches to forget about girls until after he's finished his sports career. My points about manga artists and what interactions they choose to show still stands.

Ch. 173 ends with a substantial scene where Yoshida and Mako have an edgy little encounter. Mako goes full force on her not-quite-clear-why obsession with Yoshida's future plans, angering Yoshida. Yoshida says it's not of Mako's business and stomps off to the rest room. Mako looks seriously stricken and hurt.

Then, when Yoshida tries to make up by saying she will think about the future, Mako asks her whether a boy has seen her naked. Yoshida is incensed and defensive, assuming that Tomoko has been talking about the shower incident.

Mako...says that Yoshida "shouldn't be playing with boys while everyone is studying hard." If you take away the conditional phrase at the end of that sentence, you have her saying that Yoshida shouldn't play with boys.

It's hard to know what's happening for sure, but Mako is not acting in the same kind of meddling way that she does with Minami. This is the Mako who made sure to get through to Yoshida while Yoshida was in detention, at which point she scolds Yoshida for not considering others in her future decision.

My take on this? Setting aside explicit yuri. Mako cares about Yoshida's future. Mako wants to be in Yoshida's future and vice versa. Mako is uneasy about Yoshida's possible involvement with guys. Mako is not worried about saying these things.

It's not hard to draw some conclusions.

But seriously, this whole thing will probably end up exactly like Azumanga Daioh: stopping right before college with all of the girls as friends and leaving the rest to the audience's imagination so that no one ship gets sunk. It would be dissatisfying for everyone, but at least the author wouldn't receive death threats from people who had their favorite ship deemed non-canon forever.

I mean, that's always how i've picture it to end. Most Highschool SoL end up with the graduation to college. I've always doubt there will be any sign of pairing ending for any of it. Honestly, there is just maybe Ucchi coming in terms with her feelings that could happen but I don't see it going anywhere given their current relationship.
