This is a lovely piece. I especially like the red petals, a very nice touch of colour! :)
One question though, and this is something I keep seeing more and more; why is it such a popular concept to draw black-haired girls with animal ears? It confuses me a lot, so if anybody has the answer, please share!

^^ I interpreted it as her trying to keep the brambles away from her lover. But the second interpretation you have is so deep I'd want to go along with the lines of that.
