Has the series had a gayer couple even to this day? (not played the last 4-5 yet)

Sophie and Plachta (from the Mysterious series) is a fairly subtexty couple. Shallistera and Shallotte (Atelier Shallie) is also another one. There's a few more that I can't remember at the moment although the subtext is generally present in the recent games. No idea about the newest game (Ryza) although I can report on it once it's released near the end of the month.

^ Please do let us know if you play it- I've been wanting to get a new one of these - if it had some subtext at least, and the new one looks very nice.

^I hadn't really paid attention but you are right :) they are done very nicely! Like a study sketch from still life. The rest is very nice too- I especially like their faces.

I think they've just gotten progressively more and more full of subtext with each release.

^If you mean that say more subtext less main text (yuri) then I agree- if you mean more or stronger overall subtext then you must have played different ones to me.
I've played 3 since totori, (out of about 8?) and that was still the only one where a girl was clearly in love- (or hugely crushing) on another girl. In totori's case, 2 of them were! Ofcourse it does not lead to a clear yuri outcome, since the MC is mostly cluless but it got a lot closer than the others i've played since, which didnt seem to have more than a little bit of subtext here and there.

I forgot to mention this in my previous post but both Lydie & Suelle from the game with a similar name are both mainly interested in guys and show no (romantic) interest in other girls (than each other) that and there's the fact that the game pushes Plactha and Alt (in a platonic way) instead of Platcha and Sophie.
