The moment the silly future children mechanic was stripped form the game, same sex pairings weren't an issue anymore.

The fact that those children's presence hinged around time travel and weird pocket dimensions really made it hard to buy that same-sex parents can't have children because realism.

They could still bring it back in a DLC :3 I love the idea of two of the girls in this game raising a kid together, magic or adopted or etc

There's been gay and/or bi characters in earlier FE games, including some who where out, but it's nearly always been one-sided before.
