That said the fandom also shipped NicoMaki over a potato. When I first got into love live, I was expecting it to be a heavy ship bc it was so popular, but I didn’t pick up on yuri-ness between them ( I was actually more for HonoMaki ). I only ship it to any extent bc of fan art tbh

@TheYuriTomboy a lot of the shipping fuel comes from sources out of the anime and to other media like songs: Zurui yo Magnetic Today, Storm in Lover, Garasu no Hanazono, manga: I mean MakiNico is practically a gag and Nozomi is gaer than ever, diaries: both the novels and the manga school idol diary which has different characters interacting in a way we never saw in the anime, Seiyuus: I don’t need to say anything, Fanwork: like right here and the last one I can think of is SIF. And that’s, how people get to ship ship’s the way they do

@TheYuriTomboy really? I ship NicoMaki due to the anime rather than fanarts. I saw a lot of gayness between them.
If it was for fanarts I think I would have shipped HonoMaki instead, because that's what I saw first iirc. lol

@jaunelric yep, it really confused me bc like i said, it’s an insanely popular ship. My main Maki ship was HonoMaki and my main Nico ship was (and still is) NozoNico, but over time I’ve broadened my horizons and I now appreciate NicoMaki and NozoEli as well.
