Never started this series because I really hated mikoto in index is it any good?

@Aquwin I haven't read Index or Railgun at all, but Astral Buddy doesn't have Mikoto at all in it, aside from appearing in a short bonus chapter.
Is it good, though? I enjoyed it, but found it a bit confusing in parts since, as I mentioned, I haven't read Railgun or Index.

Astral Buddy is fairly decent, but kind of confusing at points (and I have read Railgun). Very gay, though
I'd say Railgun is better (but not as gay)

Plus Astral Buddy is way shorter than Railgun, with currently 20 chapters vs 115 chapters, so it's a pretty quick read.

^ i have to say that i like the world it takes place in, haven't seen a lot of media where magic mixes with psionics. That said, the execution sucks, and the protagonist is ALMOST the wors protagonist, that title goes to ShiTro Emiya from Fate

^I was talking about To Aru protagonists.... And Shirou is just fine. Most people can't get over his initial impression though, so I don't blame them. The writing of the VN is pretty good. Shirou is a good deconstruction of the hero ideal.
