@BugDevil Those indeed are the colors of the official transgender flag, which you would know through a quick google search.
Furthermore, the cat ears do actually mean something. Trans women in certain online communities apparently got kinda memetically attached to the cat girl persona, seeing how many transgirls relates to the idea of it (apparently, the transmen counterpart are dog boys).

No, it wouldn’t get the yuri tag because this a trans boy and a trans girl. If anything, the het tag would be more appropriate. Although this could easily be interpreted as just a sort of solidarity-friendship type thing.

Agree with Nezchan. And there's no Yuri or Het tag because, again, agree with Nezchan. Even if we prefer Perlen's reading of the situation, it's more of a cute and comfy situation as TheYuriTomboy said than romance. I initially included in my comment an opinion of mine that a Yuri tag should be added, but edited it out because there wasn't really anything romantic in the comic, as said by @OrangePekoe.
Also responding to @Nezchan, the cat ears being an identifier wasn't really my point. But rather, I was only pointing out that it's a reference to a part of transgirls' online culture– that is the catgirl persona. (though I could've said it better) And with that comes the heavy implication that these are both transgirls. It's not fair to assume the short hair as a masculine trait don't you think?
Nonetheless, not that it would matter since we're not really judging whether this is a Yuri or Het. All I know is that this the same comic immediately became one of the top posts in r/wholesomeyuri.

To me the image just looked like a hidden catboy and catgirl sharing joy at finding another cat person.
The whole 'jumping down someone's throat because they're not up to woke standards' thing is not exactly helpful for the spreading of meaningful understanding. It just paints the people who respond like that and (unfortunately by extension) whatever it is that is the subject being spread as being as stupid and exclusionary as their opponents.

Doc Hoot (but are they a areal doctor or just a Ph.D.?) has my thinking on this. The cat ears here seem to be a physical expression of perking up at the recognition of a kindred spirit, rather than a specifically trans thing, even if some trans communities use it.
Perlen297
Apr 24, 2019 11:18AM
^ Or both. This is Pas we're talking about– browsing through their twitter or blog really gives it away (their connection to/being part of trans communities, that is). This leads me to believe that the reference I was pointing out was their initial/primary intention. Even then, it definitely still can have different hidden meanings behind the reference (one of which is what you have just said). Nevertheless, I was just pointing out a part of their online culture that I've learned, that's all.
And oh yeah, when I asked about the genders of the characters, someone simply responded 'nyanbinary'. Take that what you will.

idk imo the reason it has neither yuri nor yaoi nor het tag is because whether there's romantic relationship or tensions being born is unclear? (It could even mean trans solidarity, I mean?)
Also I can't readily guess the gender of either one character. I mean, the one in the first panel could be either a transmasc, an enby or a transfem that has not yet gone through transition, the only thing we know for now is they're probably both transgenders.
