I was hoping for something more bestial out of Aura instead of yet another human-with-cosplay-accessories race. Unfortunately developers have to take the easy way out in these kind of things. While on topic of FFXIV, its nice to see it being rather popular for yuriworks. Can't wait for the approaching viera yuri flood that's sure to come with the new expansion.

I'm curious as to what it is about FFXIV that there is so much LGBT fan art, to the point where it comparatively dwarfs the het art. There may actually be more yuri over all of the others combined as well.
I've tried getting into XIV multiple times to see for myself, but I'm just not a fan of MMOs, nothing against the game.

FFXIV seems to have quite a big LGBT player-base, along with possibility of same-sex marriage in-game. Recently they even participated in a pride parade: https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/pr/blog/002679.html
