Kobayashi is kinda the only adult around, even in canon, besides, perhaps, Takiya.
Fafnir is a NEET, Elma can't seem to put her shit together, Quetzalcoatl has only brought major issues to Shota's sexual development, Kanna is, well, Kanna, and Tohru is overly energetic and strangely idealistic for a chaos-aligned misanthropic (if slightly less so) dragon.
So yeah, this arrangement makes sense

Funny tidbit, the manga actually had an entire chapter revolve around the fact that dragon's don't need sleep. The only reason they do is because they imitate humans.
