Artist didn't want people uploading their art to other sites, and filed a cease and desist to Danbooru. People kept on uploading despite that using an exploit so they just nuked all of their various accounts (Pixiv, Tumblr, Twitter).
Well, that's just my guess as to why they did it. It could've been for another reason other than people reposting their art without permission, but that's the only one that comes to mind. I know a lot of Japanese artists get annoyed with that.

If people source you properly, why does it matter? If you aren't putting it up behind a paywall, people sharing your art (with proper sourcing) can only be a good thing.
I wouldn't know of even a tenth of the artists I do now if not for Dan/Gelbooru, know your meme, and this site.

Yea, I don't get it either, It is as if they didn't want people to see their art. I guess for some reason they treat it as theft, regardless of circumstances. I could understand them wanting people to go to their sites directly, but if you don't have ads or something, increasing traffic won't give you anything and if people want to go see more of your stuff, they will.
Well I guess there is also japanese tendency to not wanting foreigners to see/share their stuff. Them blocking foreigners for sharing/following them etc. is sadly pretty common.

That said, I find it rather amusing that, while knowing the artist didn't want their drawings posted in other sites, someone still decided it was a good idea to post it here. Sounds as much of a prick move as the Danbooru people.

^^ If your content is reposted to a site that does have ads or other stuff through which the site seeks to profit from posted content, you have the right to be damned pissed off about it.
