For watching or reading Conan, I recommend only doing it for a few seasons/volumes and then just imagine an ending you'd like. Because that manga ain't ever ending. It's fairly enjoyable though, until cases become similar or character designs start to overlap (having like 10 new characters every case is pretty taxing for design, especially when you can't exaggerate like in fantasy). It also suffers from Ash Ketchum syndrome, where characters never age. So yeah, take a shot and then leave it when it's at its peak.

@BugDevil: I don't know about it never ending, because considerable progress has been made on both the actual plot (more and more info about the Black Org is slowly leaking out, Conan and co.'s confrontations with said group are becoming more and more serious... Aoyama is planning something big) and the Shin'ichi-Ran romance angle.
Did you know that they've recently become an official couple in-universe?

Ai was raised a scientist in a strict and secretive household. Her interactions with the Org has jaded her. However, throughout the series we're shown Ai actually has very girlish hobbies and tastes.
Aiyumi is just the kind of person who could reach out to Haibara. It has been shown that Aiyumi is probably the person closest to Ai anyway. Aiyumi is probably the only person Ai has never made a snarky comment to in her friend group.

@BugDevil No, at one point Ran and Shinichi meet up on a day when he's taken the temporary antidote for APTX 4869. They were just about to do THE THING when the antidote starts wearing off and he's forced to retreat. He even convinces his rival Heiji to let him hide in his backpack while Ran looks for him.
