Yeah its subtext... Awfully close to crossing the line though, just because they're stage girls so they're just 'acting'. Its amazing though, I recommend it to everyone. The songs are great, the characters are great, the horniness is great.

im only at epi 3 but... yea theres a LOT of subtext. if watching your 'rival's' videos over and over and hiding that fact when someone comes over aint subtext, dunno what is anymore

I've only watched the first half, but most of the subtext up to that point comes from these two playing out Takarazuka roles, where the star who everyone wants to be plays all masculine roles while they have a "consort" who normally plays very feminine roles opposite them.
The one pretty clear lesbian character in the series, who's got a huge, possessive crush on the main character, is largely played for laughs and doesn't get any reciprocation at all.

Yeah Mahiru is clearly gay for Karen (was her's episode 5?) and honestly, she deserves better.
Indeed it does get gayer, especially towards the end in episodes 9, 10 and 12.
