Cute, though I don't think it's worth a reread. This one-shot seems to be missing from the author's page though..

I very much disagree with the conclusion of your first sentence

"I'm sorry my daughter came back" - What is this line talking about?

Reading the prequel chapter again, didn't they kiss? And at the beginning of the first chapter, aren't they flirting and stuff? It feels like that's going unacknowledged or something.

New cutie spotted! If she were gay and gets into a relationship of her own that would be amazing.

Spooky halloween yuri :O

The people in the comments like 100x worse than the writer though. These poor fools.

edit: Except my boy Altair who gave like a 3 page screed on the complexities of yuri and its publishing environment. I think this a very important takeaway for any western writers eager to comment on this yuri thing they just heard of:
"It might help to point out that Kabi hasn't seen much exposure in the west because there is no exposure in the west for yuri. Kabi represents a fragment of a fragment."

I think there's something to be said about how Japanese people feel about "lesbian" manga/anime/media vs. "yuri" manga/anime/media. I've noticed that distinction being made quite a bit, with the implication that yuri is preferred since it's more pleasant and accessible, and lesbian media is weird or gross, and it's easy to make a yuri manga into a lesbian manga by including too much emotional complexity or whatever. I think whether yuri manga need to address lesbian identity is a side argument; a manga could do it successfully, or it could successfully opt to not do it, but I think the real issue for yuri connoisseurs is how editors and mangaka think up these overly harsh restrictions that compromise quality.

I think the popular yuri things the article is talking about is like Senran Kagura or whatever else is in its genre. Valkyrie Drive, etc. I guess those shows are current and popular, but so are a bunch of other shows in similar numbers, just with different audiences (like how TV show is today). The author does seem pretty out of touch, and uninformed on specifics outside of the very narrow subjects she wants to talk about. The article's a bit too short and flimsy to spend much time criticizing, so whatever. It's good to talk about this stuff and increase the profile of that kind of yuri. It does grate on me though when people like this have massive blindspots for what they're trying to talk about with authority, so hopefully someone will link them Dynasty on twitter so they will correct their gaps in knowledge.

Why does such great art and decent writing have to be squandered on such a large age gap... I just. I can't get into that. She's only 16 and going through some real tough shit and is very, very vulnerable right now and doctor gal over here is more than twice her age guys :C Give this child a parental figure, please. Not a desperation romance.

I don't know how to resolve your problem, but I will say that 16 years old is the age of consent in some countries so it's not totally abhorrent to think of it as adult-like. Probably not China though? Also I agree that I dislike the grooming or parental context a lot of age gap stories have, but I can also compartmentalize past that and just enjoy it as a romance story. It's better not to think about how it would translate into reality- just think of it as a personality dynamic between two equals.

I have such distaste and very little tolerance for how frequently the "overly entitled and assertive guy" trope appears with male peer characters in yuri manga. Whenever it gets resolved the guy always gets the benefit of the doubt for his actions and blame for the matter never gets assigned in a clear cut and corrective way. This kind of ridiculous, truly unthinkable behavior gets passed off as a whimsical human failing rather than an identifiable social ill with known causes and ways of perpetuating itself.

I know I don't know what will end up happening to this guy, but so far his actions and the others' reactions to him seem to be trodding well-worn ground. I know that people reading romance manga aren't reading them for their perfectly theorized progressive sex politics, but the level of subservience and deference they show this guy, and his ilk in other manga (though, being a childhood friend, in this case the protag has good reason to help him and put up with his bullshit) truly grates on you when you see it so much.

This is very nice. This feels like the first hopelessly lovey-dovey adult couple we've had in a long while. I hope this gets really sweet with the one girl remembering bits of her old relationship and then showing the other one's reactions when she brings up past things or whatever. I'm sure that's the intention at some point. This seems to be the awkward early stage of their do-over relationship.

This shit is pretty doki-doki. Hina is a classic Morinaga dummy/cutie for putting that autograph in a book that Hana will inevitably find though.

So cute. Plum has a non-h Shirabe + Kirika doujin that just got translated that should be put on here.

So sweet, and such good storytelling. I liked the little detail of the two sisters being so much taller than everyone else in line for the shrine. I bet Honoka is going to get a makeover, probably only temporarily, at some point and be revealed to be sublimely gorgeous like her sister.

This artist is very nice. I like everything about this: the dialogue, the art, the feelings, every thing but the resolution. I think it could be optimistically seen as the protagonist making her affection and intentions known, and the friend not turning her down completely could be a sign she's interested.

It would be insanely good if Hosokawa and her senpai kept getting into suggestive situations that show them becoming closer.

Urgh, this past few days we've gotten a lot of dark and angsty yuri. I need my fluff. Any recomendation? If not, then gimme some yuri comedy or something. I just want to shake the angst away

Don't get me wrong, I love this kind of works, but the past few days have been particularly ansgty here in Dynasty Scans, first with that asshole-ish sensei and now this

Virgins Empire. Re-read it if you've already read it once!

All the characters are really working together well at this point. It's really nice that this series is so successful. Thanks for the translations.

Pretty intense... But less sad than part one... So far. I don't count on it staying that way.

No? I haven't read ahead so I don't know anything, but given that Amy is single and currently in the picture, I'm seeing the potential for a reunion with her and Fiona at the end. Or I guess a gut-punch epilogue where Fiona married a man and has a happy family and Amy's on the outside looking in.

I'm glad this can definitively declare a victory for the "this is NTR" camp. I hope we've all learned something here.

I feel like...okay. This is getting boring. I am not exciting at all or wanting to know anymore the deal about Inoue but the story is taking too long to find the conclusion whether Inoue is an ex, a potential rival to Yamada or something else. This is getting tiring for me. Lol. (My opinions, my problems.)

Anyway, I'll go with the assumption that Inoue will confess here after the race whether she loses or not or whatever. Just conclude already. Lel.

That sounds awful for you. My condolences. I dunno how to solve this for you.

There's been kind of a massive communication divide between these two for the last few chapters that hasnt really been addressed :/

Well it's all been taking place on the same day at the school festival. They've been constrained by time and distance so far, and hopefully it'll all lead to a climax where that honesty and openness takes place. Kase taking Yamada onto the track field with her is a good symbolic step in that direction.
