Sure, they would probably be surprised and be kinda weird about it, but this is starting to feel less about being scared of coming out (which is an understandable fear) and more about dragging out the premise.

Kinda get the feeling that their friends would be okay with them dating each other, so the whole secrecy thing is starting to just feel arbitrary.

She's clearly drawn as somewhat chubby in the beach chapters, though, and has a stockier build and rounder face than the other girls.

I've noticed that Saborou Miura-sensei is drawn in the style of the classic yokai manga GeGeGe no Kitarō, which is a gag that makes sense for a supernatural comedy manga. Also explains why his head has gotten bigger since the first chapter.
His name might also be some kind of pun on the mangaka Shigeru Mizuki.

Mari being dominant and open about her love for Arisa is the best thing, and makes me so happy. It really feels like she's grown as a character, she'd never do something like that in the beginning.

That's what makes it so good, though. Previously Mari hasn't had the courage to even kiss goodbye in private, and it's been a huge effort every time.
Now she's confident enough to spontaneously kiss her fiance in public like it's no big deal, just something normal that couples do, and that's romantic in its own way.
