Nice chapter about the mutability of love, but where is the waitress gay panicking?

Just to clarify, her career-path form is still completely blank, correct?

Yes, we’re just speculating.

I didn’t really say that. I’m just saying that becoming a professional musician is something that’d feel forced for the character. I wouldn’t really call something like a sound engineer a musician... Therefore working in the music industry is another thing. I agreed with @Astraea Hill ‘s comment for that exact reason.

My point with emphasising the store is that this is the closest thing we have of a possible career path for her: working at a CD/Record Store, eventually taking it over and being the owner/manger. It’s still dealing with the music business.

i guess I’m the only one that wants some romance progression? the slice of life is starting to get boring -_-

You are aware that this is not yuri and will never be... right?
Sometimes when I read the comments I wonder how many of the readers have forgotten that the mangaka specifically warned us about that.

I didn't even know.
Then the tags here should be changed to subtext instead of yuri & romance

It was vaguely worded. The author said in an interview that she didn't consider it a yuri. Others have taken it to mean that she just thinks of it as a realistic romance story that should be relatable to anyone and is not meant to be a "gurl on gurl hawt" story

Exactly. But guys, can we talk about the hot Uncle or his hot niece (or both, both is good) instead of going back to the Schrödinger's Yuri topic for the 100th time? It doesn't matter at this point. Us yuri believers get our fan service with Aya's casual gay panic, we should be content because it's a gag-based series (effortlessly hot loner who dresses like one of those pop punk tiktok kids x flushed gyaru who thought she was a guy) with four-pages per chapter. And most of them are for Western rock references, so I ain't complaining about the lack of "romance progression".

Chapter 9 made me believe even more on my theory that Oiwa is a morally grey character, not an enemy or the one who will turn out to be a big villain, not fully an ally but not out of ill intent. She does see both MCs as her friends (what she said on chapter 6 + her reaction when Ryou said Oiwa wanted to save Okiku too), but is still on guard because of her vision.

Additionally, Yuino you ain't slick. And she was there too. First time we see her full body. Creepy ghost's height seems to be the same as Okiku's, but it could be a matter of perspective here.

Thank you for the translation! If I recall, Ch.10 is the latest release so far, right? Haven't seen the 11th on the raws (publisher's site).

When you see Uncle Joe you kinda understand how Mitsuki can look effortlessly hot.

Now this needs to turn into a series with them helping each other keep up their personas and falling in love in the process. Do it, Author-san!

I do wonder what Mitsuki plans on doing. Being a musician is such a meh way of answering it tbh. Just because you are passionate about music doesn’t mean you will drop everything to pursue such a career, specially given how she DOES NOT want to stand out — if that weren’t the case, she’d be playing in other occasions other than the afterparty. I think it would be nice if she decided to do something related to business administration (or whatever else you can study to be a manager), given her work at her Uncle’s store. The idea of Mitsuki taking over and being the rocker-looking store manager like her Uncle while in her 40s is really cool.

I would not even be that surprised if she did drop everything to pursue a career in music, but she definitely wouldn't write it in her career path form.

Being a musician doesn’t really seem like something she’d have to hide from her Uncle & Co. But I still think it doesn’t match the character’s personality we’ve been shown so far. And the story doesn’t really seem to be hinting towards that. She’s surrounded by people in the music business but doesn’t seem to be doing something behind the scenes (composing, practicing) or being eager to go to more concerts and meeting the music industry people themselves. And heck, not even trying to be in a band — since her main traits revolve around not wanting to be outwardly cool/smooth, I doubt she’d be dreaming of becoming a solo center-stage Gt./Vo. at this point.

The story has been focusing on the high school life and the potential yuri, so for it to shift like that (turn into one of the MCs wanting to be a musician despite wanting to be a wallflower who has no friends among her peers) would be kinda weird.
That’s why I am thinking of something related to the store. Even if it turns out to be not getting any form of education to continue the “family business” but keep working there after graduating and that’s that.

[P.S: The career rant is because with this new information — them being 3rd years — the plot could expand way beyond the GAYaru panicking and the relationship being a slow burn]

Oh so they are third years now… I wonder if they changed classes, and if career path stuff will hinder the (alleged) romance aspect of the story for a bit.

As to Aya, she’s truly a mystery in that aspect. All we truly know about her is that she’s gay af, is a gyaru and loves rock music. But none of that could give us any hints of a possible career she’d be interested in.

The only correct answer is both.

Exactly. Love triangles are boring. Natori has two hands and deserves to be in a heroine/villainess sandwich. Diana also sees Lapis as someone important, so it isn’t like she’ll treat her as an enemy anytime soon (she doesn’t seem so immature to do something like attack the other because of love matters), and after the villainess drops the “purge all the commoners” bullshit these two will certainly learn how to share and grow into genuinely good friends.

funny thing is, michi doesnt know it's aizawa in kasumi's body so she just thinks kasumi is freakin the heck out xd

It will probably be brushed off with something like “Kasumi-chan was too tired so she fell unconscious on top of Michi while trying to hug her”. And Michi herself will believe that and be oblivious about the Yuri ghost.
Until something like this happens a second time, maybe with another person, and/or Aizawa’s ghost herself goes straight for the mouth when “touching” her (despite not being able to feel anything, that’s as good as it gets for a sign)

Side note: I am starting to think the child Michi we saw during the Ch.6 dream and now is from when something really bad happened (she got attacked, note how she says "And if that happens again").
I mean, her saying "Go to the other side!" could be a memory of Michi manifesting itself, and she herself not remembering due to trauma. It might not have specifically happen with that creepy all eyes inside iris ghost, but another, and the reason that when spirituality stuff involved Michi is a child is because of whatever happened back then.

Also, the fact the ghost has a bunch of eyes inside his eyes could mean something. Mark my words.

I wonder if the thing keeping Aizawa tethered is that she never had her first kiss or something?

Could be that she never managed to fall in love and date like any normal high school girl would (could). Y'know, since idols can't be in relationships and stuff, this might be some deep wish of hers, even if she didn't die thinking or because of it.

But I doubt this is all there is to whatever unfinished business she has.

So Aizawa is the jealous type

Well, given she started breaking chalk and made Seta-kun's script explode, I think it's already been a known fact.

Wow I thought Aizawa was bordering on Yandere level of obsession but when she got a chance to touch her she went for it. Really am interested to see how this goes now that she can posses people.

I wonder if she'll try possessing the super fan. It would be funny to see the Honamin Stan acting like Aizawa.

Aizawa-san trying to kiss Michi surprised me because I thought she wasn’t interested in the MC that way YET. Gay ghosts gonna gay, I guess.

Also, I agree 100% with you, @BLAMEY. Wonderful analysis.

I wonder if the senpai will be able to continue seeing Aizawa next chapter or if the fact that during her first appearance she only saw her briefly despite the ghost still being there means she’s not as aware of her ability as Michi since it’s not as “strong” of a thing.
It’s still chapter 8, so I think it’d be better for the plot if she just suddenly asks “Hey, what happened to the blondie that was here?”. Aizawa will know she was seen, Michi will know someone saw her (not like she does since Aizawa-san is still there), and since Honami didn’t turn hostile her course of action would probably be 1) trying to get the Senpai to acknowledge her again 2) trying to find ways for Michi to see her (if she doesn’t suspect yet) UNTIL Michi gives in since there is no (obvious) danger in revealing she can see.

I hope the friend comes back and starts prying on Hina’s past to give her a little push in remembering.

Exactly. As I have said, Oiwa should also have half of her face damaged.

Also, I don’t think the author is trying to portray her as a “friend or foe”, since every time she looked suspicious, she justified.

Take Chapter 4 for example: Okiku calls her out for lying about her reasons for staying in Ryou’s house, saying she’s been watching Ryou all the time. Oiwa answers her, and “comes clean” to Okiku. It doesn’t seem like she’s revealing the third ghost thing with ill intentions.

Finally, this specific chapter, we see her looking quite somber after she says “Think nothing of it”, and later we understand that chances are what she saw once she formed a pact with Okiku (and please note that she looks absolutely chocked) is the vision she reveals to Ryou. Oiwa is not particularly an enemy to Okiku, she just started seeing her as a threat after her vision, and seems she has nothing against the exorcist. She’s more of a gray character to me.

Y'know, I understand that Miyako's reason for being worried is that "onee-san is treating me like a child and not acknowledging me as an adult by turning a blind eye on every bad thing I do" which is bad when they are supposed to be lovers, but I really agree with Asako on that one. Getting into heated arguments over stuff that can easily be discussed in a cool-headed way is imo one of the reasons many relationships end up being more painful than pleasant, specially when there is cohabitation involved.
I liked this wholesome chapter. Although we kinda know some drama (or just a minor conflict) is about to come after the end of the previous chapter, this slice of life-ish chapter was a nice read.

I tried looking for mote info on the movie and apparently it’s based on a story by a late Edo period performed. Its name is Shinkei Kasanegafuchi.

My sources are pretty limited since I can only look for answers in english speaking sites, but I ended up finding this page about Kasane on Yokai.com.

It says that ”she is often held up with Oiwa and Okiku as a prime example of the grudge-bearing Japanese woman ghost”. So maybe instead of Otsuyu being the third ghost, it’s Kasane.

And the description of this ghost matches the one that has been lurking around.

Now, while I could draw a parallel between Otsuyu’s story and Ryouyo’s current situation, I have no idea how this ghost could be related to her and for what reason she’s around her all the time.

I thought that maybe Otsuyu would be jealous that someone would possibly have a mutual love with a ghost, something that was denied from her (ghost) in her story. This wouldn’t explain why she’s been there since Ryou was a teen (and maybe earlier), but oh well.
The only reason I can think of for the ghost to be “haunting” the MC is the fact that Ryou is most likely the reincarnation of a woman from the Edo (probably the one related to Okiku’s tale).

Lastly, the bridge Oiwa saw Ryou dead and the one we see during the flashback where Okiku is meeting the Ryou-looking faceless girl could be the same (????).
