OH NO SHE KNOWS
THE ABSENCE OF ANY OBVIOUS BLUSHING OR HAPPY-GAY SPARKLES IS MAKING THIS VERY DIFFICULT TO PARSE ON WHETHER IT'S A GOOD REVELATION (for her) OR NOT
I'M SO STRESSED OUT

Or she think Onii-san send it to Koga and is his GF.

I second this. Aya is kind of an airhead she'll definitely think Mitsuki is Oniisan's GF

I feel like it could also be that she feels like there is no hope for the relationship now that "he" is a girl. Or perhaps she feels that the person she had a crush on doesn't actually exist

Once she gets over the initial despair, she might be open to starting some sort of relationship with Koga but I think she needs some recovery first

I am finding it more and more unbelievable that Mitsuki is unpopular when she is constantly rattling off smooth lines so easily without thinking xD

Probably because she doesn't really speak to her classmates to rattle off any smooth lines lol

I feel like Mitsuki is the sort of character who could get called on to read a passage from a book in class and accidentally make the class swoon with her delivery

I will always remember that my introduction to yuri shipping was while running a translated Touhou 2 on an Emulator

Meira deserves to return xD

I am loving what a ladykiller Mitsuki is

I do wonder how she's keeping it a secreet at this point, though. Must get glasses from the same brand as Clark Kent

So it seems like Jerkface might be just an awkward guy who is trying way too hard to act dominant and cool despite the fact thay he's a total bottom who just wants friends and is coming off toxic and gross

Or he's an actual sleaze who is biding his time until he spots an opening to continue being sleazy

I'm leaning toward the former and hope it's the case vut I'm still reserving judgement

More like: forgot that an argument like yours needs evidence beyond “That’s my impression, anyway,” or else people who read a lot more, or a lot different, manga than you do will think you’re just wrong, and say so.

Meh, people will do that regardless of any examples
Have you been on the internet long?

Okay, the guy it's pretty cool, I love guys in yuri manga that are just supporters instead of love interest.

I didn't think this would need to be said but, after the number of replies now, I guess it does. "Faster" does not mean that it always happens, that it only happens in yuri, that yuri is poorly written, or that it is more excessive than other genres. It only means that I find make out sessions tend to start happening earlier and with less buildup in the series run than in hetero romance stories

Bro, the hets have something called TL that it's het porn for women an hentai that it's almost all het and aiming for men, instead we had to PRAY for a kiss not long ago, yuri was know for being so so "pure" that we even consider hanholding harder than sex, because that was the only thing that happened at all. Citrus in fact gained a lot of fans for kissing in the first chapter. What the hell are you talking about?

I'm talking about my experience with Yuri. Which is, apparently, much different than yours

Unsupported categorical assertions get pushback—who could have predicted?

I assumed saying that I think yuri couples make out sooner was too mild a statement to be worth the bother
Forgot I was on the internet, I guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Sigh... Sucks this series is gay bait according to interview with author.

the author just didn't see this as "yuri" but Woman loving another woman situation (like a gender based) also she loves matured girls if u see her other works js.

But that's literally what Yuri means, lol

Yuri is more about the fetishized fantasy girl on girl romance designed more for crowd pleasing and eroticism than realism. Needless to say, real world lesbian romances tend to be VERY different from those you see in yuri stories

If someone seeks realism on a genre from Japanese media they sure came to the wrong place, not only Yuri is like that. yet, I'm still to see all those numerous fetishized Yuri works that people talk soooo much about, I can list 3 from the top of my head after reading this genre for years

You never noticed how much faster yuri couples start kissing and getting naked compared to straight romance manga?

Wait a minute. I missed Miss Sunflower kissing and getting naked somewhere in the last hundred chapters?!

O_o

Yuri doesn't mean "lesbian" on english. Yuri is a made up word that takes 2girls together and more on the ecchi type. Just like the word hentai is, its made up.

Yuri actually means "lily" a flower that became a lesbian symbol in Japan

I was mainly referring to how the Author saying he doesn't see this as "yuri" probably means that she is looking for more realism in the romance and doesn't just want it to fall into the trap of "girl on girl hawt."

Imo Aya already “knows” what’s going on. When she finally realizes Mitsuki’s true identity she’ll be like “well on some level I figured it out.” Or “I can’t deny the signs were there all along” or whatever

That's one of the things that's been kind-of bugging me about this page, in the context of the following chapters. She's having a meltdown over the smell of Mitsuki's jacket which A) probably isn't all that boy-ish and B) probably isn't all that different from how she smells during class. That feels like something she'd notice sooner, rather than later, especially if Mitsuki keeps doing things like accidentally kabedoning her or whatever you want to call the way she gave back that earbud in the fourth chapter.

Aya: Hey, you know, you smell a lot like the boy I like.
Mitsuki: Uh ...
A: You also sound a bit like him, and you have pretty similar eyes.
M: Well, about —
A: And now that I'm looking closer, you have holes for piercings in the same place as his piercings.
M: ...
A: I'm beginning to think it's not a boy that I like.

I feel like that last line should be
A: He's your brother isn't he!?
M: Eh!?

I feel like Calli's whispering to Bae: "This is the seventh time you've made me officiate your wedding, my imouto."

My theory: Jerkface will decide that Aya is meeting Mitsuki's older brother and try to get in good with Mitsuki, Prompting Aya to get territorial

Alternatively, he could fall in love with Boy!Mitsuki and have massive panicky gay denial for a few chapters leading to an awkward love triangle xD

Personally, I like Calli's satanic nun outfit with her scythe behind her and the ominous gaze

Who better to officiate the ceremony xD

I feel like it's not a coincidence that the main character was named Haru, the Japanese word for Spring

I like that sort of cheesy symbolism

A fun read, but umm... shouldn't it kinda have a Rape tag?

Depends on your interpretation
As a comedy manga, the author's intent was likely that Sou is just being a closeted gay tsundere about it, as also implied in the later panel where she has apparently stopped sleeping with guys

But yeah, MIkoto does come off rather rapey with her if you don't look at it that way

I thought it was fairly clear that when the Author said he didn't think of it as Yuri, what he meant was that he was thinking about it as a romantic story that anyone who has ever been lovestruck could relate to regardless of gender and not something meant to be shoved into the girl's love box

I never really cared about whether Tarnish got the girl but I did think her plan for getting rid of immortality would probably fix a lot of the problems in that world. 90% of the monsters were people who royally screwed up on the becoming immortal quest

Not sure her idea of normalizing zombies was much better, though xD

takachi posted:

I believe somebody mentioned above that she's using oniisan, which is not exactly he.

How exactly is that not exactly "he"?

how exactly is that "he"? :)

As said above, it's an address to an older boy. Only.

If the author had wanted to stay ambiguous about what gender she thought Mizuki is, they would have used "that person" (ano hito), "that shop attendant", or something neutral. Japanese can go a long way without mentioning the gender of who you're talking about.

Here, clearly, she thinks her "oshi" is an older boy.

Technically "Kare" would be closer to "he" but, as that can also mean "boyfriend" in certain contexts, it's likely she feels too shy to use it

Onii-san is used more like "Young man" when referring to someone outside your family

But she calls him "Onii-san" (big bro) so she still believes it's a guy.

If I am not mistaken this also means she thinks "he" is older, which is fun. I wonder if she thinks he finished school already?

Yes and no. Onii-San is often used, even by those older than the person, as a way of saying "Young man"
