i think you may have misunderstood what i was referring to - there exist butch lesbians who take being butch so far they use male pronouns even though they identify as women and explicitly not as trans. some of them are even pretty terfy.

yeah, it's weird to me too, but they're out there. my whole point was that whenever i see this thread it's blowing up into arguments about definitions around these issues, even though they're extremely subjective. it just doesn't seem worth it.

tbf kageko does think about how she hasn't spoken to anyone for a long time. she probably means except sakurako but you could read it literally and infer they might have broken up.

in terms of "oshi", i've usually heard it translated as "fave" but that's in the context of celebrities, and i guess that translation would be kind of an odd word to use for someone you know personally?

honestly, rather than being dropped after that arc, for me it felt more like the sex arc was tacked on as a sort of bonus at the end of tadakoro-san, like i thought the story was basically done by that point anyway. which isn't to say i'd don't see any potential in a sequel/spinoff, i am interested to see where a new series goes

Just because someone is a "tomboy" does not make them any less feminine or somehow automatically one questioning their gender. That's a gross oversimplification if a very complex issue. The comic is clearly tagged girls love/yuri and is not tagged LGBTQ+. Let's leave it at that and move on.

yes, there's no indication whatsoever that this is a trans story. the presence of shared thematic elements (i.e. queerness, not conforming to stereotypical appearance/behaviour of your bio sex) doesn't make it one, relatable as it might be

While interesting, I don’t think our protagonist is particularly bright given her supposed age. For one it would be REALLY easy to determine which day was chosen. She just needs to keep a journal and mark down a number for each day. Which ever number is kept when the next day comes around is the day that was chosen.

Also, it would be actually pretty easy to prove what’s happening with the help of 1 other person. This person wouldn’t even have to know about her condition. Simply ask them to generate an word file with a ton of randomized words. The next day after the word file is generated she’ll ask to be told a specific number word in the sequence. Whenever a day is chosen she can reiterate all the words she learned from the days that weren’t chosen, proving she has information she couldn’t have.

the first idea is good, i think, but as for the second, how would anyone but her know what the correct strings of words from non-chosen days were in order to check?

I think I heard somewhere in a pre release interview that the show isn't meant to be a yuri show, but there honestly isn't a heterosexual explanation for anything they've done so far.

to be fair if we only count ones where there is an explicitly romantic kiss on screen between two female leads there have been about 3 yuri shows made ever

you can always go back and re-watch, it definitely stands up to repeat viewings :)

in terms of what their respective 'likes' meant, my read is that miyako's is more serious. she hears the word and appears to consider and perhaps realise something, before stating her feelings quite simply. suga, though, doesn't seem to get this, or perhaps can't believe it and so replies flippantly.

just a guess, but that's how the various subtleties of the interaction struck me. this was also masterfully done imo, just an all round excellent chapter
