Wanting to know more of the person behind the work is basic human curiosity, especially when they try to keep their identity under wraps like many mangaka tend to do. Biographies and celebrity gossip rags sell for a reason. As long as you don't judge people for their work (well, within reason) and vice versa, who cares.
Believe Akiko is too.
Well, the name is a give-away, she openly identifies as female, is engaged in the lgbt community and there are pictures of her. So yeah, unless it's a ridiculously thorough fake identity... Many others aren't quite so clear: Namori, Ritz, Kuroda and so on.
