I feel like maybe Tsukasa is the one who gets her girlfriends so dependent on her that they threaten to commit suicide if she leaves, not the other way around.

My prediction? Tsukasa and the main girl get together, Tsukasa continues to isolate the mc and tell her that she needs her, and then it ends up just how it started, with Tsukasa chatting up some other girl on the phone about how clingy the mc is, and leaving her after making her dependent on her.

Agreed, although the prediction sounds like it’d be an bit unsatisfactory for this type of story. My guess is that Nana’s going to find out that Tsukasa’s a sleeze at some point (although not before she’s basically at the tipping point), and it’ll open the door for some character development and maybe a bit of well-deserved revenge.

obviously Nana has her issues, but it does suck that her friend got so bent out of shape over her doing sex work

what a shitty friend

I don’t know if her friend is even aware of the sex work. She might just have seen the photos he downloaded and assumed Nana was sexting her boyfriend. She’s still a shitty friend for going behind her back like that, mind you.

What about “forced”? Gets the same point across without diluting the impact of the word “rape.”

No one can dilute a word.

And forced implies she was given an option...well,she did take the job...

Hold on, this is a bit off-topic, but how does “forced” imply being given an option? Forcing someone to do something literally means imposing it upon them through some sort of power or coercion. There is no choice.

The fact that all of those ghosts were clearly maids does not bode well…

Well, the title is already untrue

Considering she didn't consent, the blood sucking rape still makes the tittle true.

Whether she resists further or ends up starting a new fetish is left to be seen,as per the premise of this series.

The ghosts, though, one wonders how they got there.

That word is unnecessary. There are better words.

Otherwise, I would say that they are the ghosts of other maids who have come across the Secret and lived in the mansion all their lives. But timeline-wise it doesn't seem to make sense.

There are no better words to describe the opposite of consent.

That word is necessary.

What about “forced”? Gets the same point across without diluting the impact of the word “rape.”

Wow, I thought Ayaka would declare she was a lesbian, that I think would had been hmm more appropriate, but to involve Hiroko too, it feels like sort of a public outing other people..not cool. I'd never talk to her again

This isn’t an outing, though? The only thing it tells people is that 1) Ayaka is a lesbian (a public coming out), and 2) Ayaka in in love with Hiroko (a public confession). It kinda puts Hiroko on the spot, sure, but the only way it outs her is if she accepts the confession and effectively outs herself. If she doesn’t, people are just going to think of Hiroko as the target of some other girl’s affection. The only person being publicly outed here is Ayaka.

One and a half months before Xmas is "almost Xmas"???

That’s what, early November? That sounds about right, at least from the perspective of most businesses… and radio stations.

I’ve never been too into harem stuff, but I swear, if this series doesn’t end up with Toudou being the bottom center of this gaggle of girls that she’s somehow managed to fail her way into, I’ll eat my shirt.

I saved up chapters to get through the alleged rough patch of Volume 4, but I cannot comprehend why the original translators disliked it so. The action was a fun breath of fresh air and it really displayed Toudou's friend circle well, while also being genuinely funny. Yomotsuka being absolutely smooth during the entire event, avoiding exerting herself or getting hurt and ultimately reaping all the benfits while also flirting with her target was truly a sigh to behold.

Same. I actually thought it was one of the stronger parts of this series. The action didn’t feel terribly out of place amongst the over-the-top antics of this series while still being a good change of pace, the jokes were good, and a bunch of characters had the opportunity to really let their personalities shine in a way that wasn’t directly related to the main character. I just hope that the series doesn’t end too soon, because actually makes for a good “intermission” arc to this series’ usual antics.

Yeah, probably this backstory should've been narrated earlier since pretty much all of us hate Hiroko and have made up our mind on the "she only rejected Ayaka to protect her public persona" plot line

I mean, that’s kinda the point. The author wants you to draw conclusions about the character and get comfortable with that assessment. That way, when the curtain is finally pulled back, you stop to reassess everything that led you to your previous assumptions and make sense of it in light of the new revelation and effectively un-make up our minds and engage with the story in order to see things in this new light. I personally think the author does a great job of it here, especially the way they manage to roll the lingering effects of old social norms (a thing that a lot of readers probably aren’t going to think about since it’s a work of fiction) to make you really realize how Hiroko’s seeming density and cowardice is a sort-of trauma response.

Also, who is this “us” you’re referring to?

... is it me or it feels rushed?

A little bit, and it definitely doesn’t help that the story leading up to this point was fairly slow-paced. I’m not sure if it was because the author had too much planned to dedicate more time to Ayaka and Risa dating (which would be weird, since we’re apparently only at around the midway point), or if they were just worried that readers would start tho think that the story was going to shift to AyakaxRisa if they spent more than a chapter on that plot point. Personally, I would have preferred if we had another chapter or two to drive home the awkwardness of the relationship and give Hiroko a little more time to regret her poor decision, but I don’t consider this to be particularly damning for the story. It’ll depend on how the rest of the story plays out.

Poor Risa. Credit to her for taking her shot, but I guess Ayaka just wasn’t that into her.

I see, so, Hiroko was once in Ayaka's shoes. But what I don't get is that, she knows she isn'r as cruel as the Senpai she once pursued. So, why is she so afraid of reciprocating Ayaka's feelings?

Maybe her senpai wasn’t that cruel in the beginning, either? I imagine the circumstances will become more clear in future chapters.

Oh boy, Hinoka’s going all-in. Wonder if Tsukushi’s even going to last until the beach trip.

Hinoka is lighting up a flare, just beaming the Lesbian Signal straight into the clouds.

Still not workin'. This is pretty advanced levels of ignorant about someone being into you. She's almost as bad as me.

I mean, you’ve got to cut Tsukushi a little slack here. It be like putting a maxed-out loudspeaker next to a music aficionado’s ear. It doesn’t matter how good they normally are at picking things up, they’re going to be completely overwhelmed. And Tsukushi wasn’t even that good at picking up signs to begin with.

Isn't Gay Marriage Legalized In Japan Now?

I don’t think so. I think there’s one district in Tokyo that issues marriage licenses to same-sex couples, but those don’t really have any binding effect outside of that district.

There was also apparently a court in Japan last week which ruled that Japan’s policy on the matter was unconstitutional but it was only a district court (and there are 2 other district courts that said it was constitutional in the last couple years). Reuters said the decision could be appealed to the Supreme Court, but I don’t know if courts can bind the legislature in Civil Law countries like Japan in the same way they can in Common Law countries, such as the US. So, even if the Supreme Court did agree with the district court and find the policy unconstitutional, I don’t know if that would amount to a legalization of same-sex marriage in Japan.

Glad the author went down this arc. Really using the "past" to develop (or explore the depths of) their relationship further and also expand on the plot. Can't wait to see what else they've got planned. Those lashes were terrible but I do wonder if that maid will begin to either resent her, be suspicious or blame her for causing Evie's reckless protective actions. Didn't like that look she gave.

Hmmm, now I’m wondering if the maid was somehow the catalyst that set all that demon stuff into motion. Like a jealous demon destroying the world out of revenge.

@Porrima, sorry, I don't quite follow your argument. You're complaining about... what exactly?

I think they’re 1) calling the people complaining about het in yuri manga hypocrites by saying they would react differently if someone complained about gay stuff in other media (which is a bit of a clumsy strawman, to be honest, but whatever), and 2) saying that this thing is bi, not het, and saying that the haters are being fanatics/purists.

I'm surprised none of the girls she "dated" ever did anything with her. I figure some of them would have wanted to at least fool around a bit.

That seems to have been a line she wasn’t willing to cross. She mentioned on page 21 that it wasn’t “something to be played with.” I could see her considering sex to be a sign that things were getting too close for comfort.

Oh oh no this is getting angsty, tho it was a little forced, like she went from the wingwoman she was being developed into for 3 or 4 chapters, to in love with the mc, a bit weird and forced but ok

Was she, though? In the the first chapter she appeared in, she blew up one of Ayana’s attempts to get through to Hiroko by knocking on the stall door. Then, the next time she appeared, she told Hiroko that whatshisname also like fried chicken, intentionally obfuscating Ayaka’s next attempt to woo Hiroko and getting us into the current misunderstanding phase. Heck, most of her wingwoman-like actions have just been her acting as a friend (even inviting Hiroko to go shopping with them was done mostly to convince Ayaka to come along). It was clear from the previous chapters that she was going to have a bigger role, but it wasn’t clear whether it was going to be “wimngwoman” or”rival.”

Hmm, Gehenna. That’s a biblical expression, isn’t it?
One Google search later…
Ah, it’s Hell. Lovely.

Yeah… I think I’ll wait for all the chapters to be uploaded before trying out this one.

I’m gonna really miss this series. It helped get me through 3 years of grueling schooling and the pandemic. There were points where I almost literally went “muscle through the week, then you get to read Hino-san on Sunday.” I take my last exam tomorrow, and it feels appropriate that this series is ending now of all times.

Yeah, the last few chapters were a little rushed, but I honestly can’t bring myself to care. I couldn’t have asked for a better ending. I’ll be looking forward to whatever this author does next.

Hey guys, just so you know, I was interested in this series a couple months ago and bought the raws up to volume 2 (volume 3 just released) and if you're annoyed by Hiroko's complete inability to understand the words "I'm in love with you," I suggest you either drop this now or wait for all the chapters to release so you can read it all in one shot, because it just gets so, so much worse.

Hoooooo boy, let’s see how bad this gets.

Also, I get the feeling that Hiroko got burned really badly in the past. Like, tell head over heels for someone who was straight and wrecked her reputation levels of burned. It feels like she’s practically deluding herself at times.

Hmmm, wonder what that co-worker's trying to do there. Backfired help trying making Hiroko jealous, or run interference and keep her denseness intact?

I’m guessing she’s running interference. Hiroko is popular, after all, so maybe Risa’s got a crush and a much scummier way of going about things.

Hoo boy, the other shoe has dropped. I wonder how this one’s going to work out.

Also, I’m curious why the Archbishop stole data from the assassin agency in the first place. Does the agency have something to do with the current situation of the refugees? Does the Archbishop have some secret agenda behind his refugee advocacy? Does the priest even know he’s involved in this secret network? This is looking interesting.
