The first chapter I thought this might be fun. Now I'm not so sure. It kind of feels like the old style behavior modification treatment the psychogists gave gay people, to try to make them straight, only in reverse. I also don't like how Fuwa keeps pushing the money in Marika's face to make her do things she doesn't want to do. It gives the story a bit of rape-y vibe.

It's not really like that. Marika was always gay but she's deep in the closet and all Aya is doing is making her admit it (and choosing her as her girlfriend). Aya has a fine tuned Gaydar and knows Marika was gonna do some stupid shit, so she took advantage of that to try and show her da wae. Her methods, however, are pretty dubious but it's not like Marika can't just leave the situation since (at least in the LN) Aya makes it clear that she could just take the money and not do any work. Marika stays because, deep down, it's what she wants but she's a prideful tsundere and admitting that she's been wrong would be a blow to her ego and invalidate all of the energy she's spent protesting. The reason it feels rapey, tho, is just cuz dubcon and tsundere don't go well together

Yeah, she doesn't. If Marika loses, Aya keeps the rest of the money because she'd no longer need to have Marika under Compensated Dating because Marika would actually be dating her (and there's another reason that's a bit spoilery, regarding Aya's own finances). There's also the fact that, each day, Marika is paid up front and it's mentioned, in the LN, that she could've left at any time, after she's paid (and come back the next day to get paid, of course), but she didn't; she decided to stay and entertain Aya with whatever her wishes were because deep down, she wanted all that stuff but, y'know, she's a tsundere who isn't true to her own feelings

Since this would make a nonsense of my earlier comment, I'm going to assume they changed it to be an all-or-nothing deal in this version, and the bag is just a "sweetener".

The bag was certainly a sweetener but it was a down payment of sorts, too. In general, every day Marika gets paid her $100, before they do any activities. However, if Marika lost to Aya, Aya gets to keep her money, mainly bc her gamble not only paid off but because there's no reason to pay Marika to date her if she's already dating her (and a more spoilery reason, to boot).

Rex is a fine protagonist, honestly. Hell, without delving into spoilers, it's because of him that PyraXMythra can be considered Semi-Canon. Although, if anyone is thinking of playing Xenoblade, I highly suggest you play the first game because it's not only one of the greatest games of all time but it's also semi-important to the story of Xenoblade 2. There's also a strong Yuri Ship, in the Epilogue Side-Story, in Definitive Edition, which even has an art piece, here.

Yes, it does get better. It's just that Tsundere and Dubcon don't go well together but it does get better and things get explained by the end of the first arc

Nice, I just read Otherside Picnic, this looks like it will be fun" Then after I read first chapter and thinking that it was all a bit wonky but I mean, it is just a setup and the girl is actually gay, so we might have something interesting here, maybe she just does the whole payment thing to have a friend and she really just feels lonely and treats the girl fine, so slow burn romance.

You could interpret it differently. Rather than changing her sexuality, it could be a matter of realizing that's how she was to begin with and that she'd just repressed it due to societal pressure and not even noticed.

You can also think of it as Fuwa's Gaydar going haywire, seeing Marika, so when she heard her being Homophobic she thought she should try to awaken her.

A lot of these "I'm going to turn you gay" kinda series can simply be thought of as "My Gaydar is going haywire and I like you, so let me help you come to terms with yourself so you can go out with me"

Also, high schoolers make $100/day? In the US minimum wage is $7.25/hour, you would need to work nearly 14 hours to make $100 in a day. Even at the $15 a few places have gone for, or proposed, it would be 6.7 hours. Seems intense on top of school.

Granted there are weekends. Marika will make $700 a week if they date every day. At $7.25/hour that's 96 hours of work in a 168 hour week; at $15/hour that's 47 hours. Full-time job is 40 hours/week.

Canadian minimumwages seem to be between CAN$12-15, but that's US$9.6-12.

If they kept the arrangement indefinitely it would US$36,500 a year. Part-timers get that?

And it's cash, so probably Marika can avoid paying taxes.

Of course, all that is the original proposal; by the end of the chapter it's turned into a $10,000 bet, with no guarantee Marika would actually get paid even if she didn't 'fall'.

5. The daughter remembers everything of her past life and cannot help exploit that information to manipulate the adults who were once her childhood friends by using their secrets against them (ok this turned dark for some reason).

The First Two are reminiscent of the Oedipus-Electra Complexes that have been prevalent in literature since Ancient Greece. Nothing really that new, for Japan to be exploring
