This forum really seems to have gotten hooked on whether Maki is "creepy" or not. Imo it's really neither here nor there. He's voyeuristic, sure, but at least he's not outing anyone. Yet. I'm all for yuri manga that ~breaks the mold~ of excluding male characters that have any real substance, but this one just doesn't seem like one of those. Maki really reads like nothing but a plot device, as most male characters tend to be in school life yuri stories. Unless his singular plot device was to get Yuu thinking about whether her actions constitute as romantic feelings, I just wouldn't trust him based on previous track records of men in yuri.

Yeah, that guy is creepy. He may resort to blackmail at any given time. I don't trust him. In case he doesn't, I guess he at least is doing a good job pushing Koito's feelings.

It's a fundamental practice to never trust a guy in a yuri manga.

The only aro/ace character turned out to be Maki

I mean yeah, for however much that's worth. I know this is obviously not going to have an aro main character, just with the work's title. But it would be nice if Touko even considered the thought that Yuu might be. Especially when she herself had essentially been IDing as such before meeting her. It just seems contradictory of her to keep pushing.

I'm sure this must have been brought up before (I'm a tad late to the game and don't want to skim through 20-odd forum pages) but I'm super concerned with the narrative that this story seems to be taking. It's entire message seems to be boiling down to "if you persist at it long enough you will eventually make the person you like return your feelings." Which is really, really upsetting to me. Being shown affection does not mean that affection is owed in return. Yuu has been very upfront about not having any romantic feelings for anyone, and not expecting to ever do so (i.e. aromantic). Yet Touko continues to push her feelings onto her, even going so far as to say "You keep forgiving me, so I keep wanting to do more." Which is decidedly Not Healthy and very, very selfish. Just because Touko was able to suddenly experience romantic feelings for someone, it does not mean that Yuu should or will be able to as well.

I'm hoping that volume 2 actually addresses this instead of having Yuu just slowly start to fall in love or whatever without any issues. The writing thus far has been good enough for that not to be out of the question, but I'm still not going to get my hopes up ..

Kikuchi is the director. Which makes sense with the teacher calling them a fool at the end. I'm guessing they're actually incredibly old since we know surface world had all sorts of body changing medicine? Still, very bittersweet ending, but it was a fun read.

Liz died and life moves on. The girls learn to accept and embrace the fact that they are one and the same with the guardians as they grow up to become mothers themselves. Its sort of left up to the imagination, but I'm assuming Sakura's child (named after Liz) was born from when Sakura and Liz presumably had sex (the brief plot of Sakura getting her period kinda confirms this imo. plus the bittersweet "if only" end card of the three of them all together). I'll be honest I've no idea who Kikuchi is, but my only safe guess is that she's another fungus-child born from the mother guardian tree that Youko-chan eventually adopts..

who cares? he's getting beat up by sensei in this page. i'm sure she wouldn't let him stay around after what he did.

what I'm wondering is whether sensei is actually human, seeing as she's ~10 years older than any of the previous moms ever got to be. if she is, its an interesting thought of her being one of the last remaining human women alive and spending her life overseeing multiple generations of fungus-children.

I think anyone here can argue and have their own vastly different opinions on the quality of writing and presence or lack of extensive tropes that is FF. However I think one thing we can all agree on is that it sure as hell would be nice to see these two characters actually confront their feelings and to see them try to navigate a healthy relationship. Crush/confession stories are nice, but usually the love stories that end up making a lasting impression are ones that go beyond the confession and explore how the characters manage adversity in their relationship, and if/how they are able to overcome it. And as Nya-chan pointed out earlier, there are a dwindling amount of chapters left for this kind of story to be told. And it worries me.

No, its not. It's actually 5 full chapters and some extras. Don't know why it's listed as completed. But it's straight up yaoi so I also don't think it's much of a priority here.

As well as the lack of curve in her hips and her somewhat flatter butt make undeniable (!!) cause for this being a fairly wonderful, depiction of real-to-life sex with a trans person!!! Sorry, I just get worked up about any potential healthy trans representation, esp in manga as it is just so rare...
