There was this unique manga where it started when the 2 MCs are old and it goes backwards to when they were young as story progresses. One of them already had grandchildren in the beginning and it became a bit tragic or just sad, I can't remember exactly but it definitely made me feel a lot. Anyone got an idea? Thanks

As much as Kanna and Joe had chemistry in the past, I just don't see it in the present, other than them being old friends/exes. If they are bonding over anything it seems to me to be Mitsuki (and Aya). The family path might be a viable way forward, but am just not seeing much other than the lingering past and reflections on that between them.
I mean this is certainly an emotional moment, but is it enough?

At which volume of the LN this moment occurs? I'm curious at how much I have to catch up if I pick up the LN.

Vol 6 is the visit to the grandparents and Gon, the festival, the confession, and ends with this manga chapter.
According to the author Vol8 is the canon ending. So everything after that is omake.

It's been a while since I've read the lns, but vol08 would be the Canon ending if the author couldn't finish the story for one reason or another right? Since he's been able to keep going with new volumes, these are all Canon too right?

It's the canon ending regardless and everything else is like extra chapters of a long strip comic/manga, etc. All canon still. Expands on stuff or fills in gaps in time, etc.

Exactly, I should have been clearer. In the Vol 10 afterword the author says "...Volume 8 is the canon ending. So everything from Volume 9 onward is sort of like a long, rambly after-story."
