By saying she's "straight" afterwards sounds like she's more in denial of her sexuality or isn't really sure about it. Besides from what I've read she's powerful enough and has enough influence to marry a woman (or multiple women?) if she wanted to.

You sure about that? I mean the girl was "killed" in a manner where no body was found. That is often used in fiction to imply that she somehow didn't die and possibly might be X herself.
