What are they supposed to be seeing on the first pages? Is it a river full of blood?

My first thought was a lesbian couple that drowned themselves but on second look, I honestly have no idea.

The author’s decision to tell this story in reverse is such a great one. It makes everything 10x more painful. Even cute moments like Kiyo kissing Mitsu and the latter blushing are bittersweet (honestly more bitter) because we know how everything falls into (the wrong) place. Kiyo ends up not being strong enough to pursue a gay relationship with the one she loves and forever resents herself for it. This pain lingers in their relationship up until the very day Mitsu passes away.

This manga fucks me up.

As expected, Ohsawa Yayoi hits it out of the ballpark with yet another pair of adorable dorks. Love this one-shot!!

Holy fuck I can’t think of another series that is more effortlessly gay than Ise-Shima. Also, this is the cutest thing ever and it doesn’t even have that moe up the rectum tag.

I assume these are the twitter comics you're referring to? I'm not a pro at, like, anything, but I took a stab at translating them for you. The wording in the third extra was a bit vague but I think I got it right.

Edit: a better translation for the third comic would be "she got used to the drunkard gnawing on her clothes". The text is almost definitely from shima's perspective.

This story has:
An awkward, relatable main girl who actually discovers she’s gay af, a cute genki girl love interest, meaningful gazes between the two, “you’ve got something on your cheek,” enamored hair touching, a successful confession, sex, and on top of that, they go to the sea and it’s not for some angsty reason. This might be the quintessential yuri one-shot.

Side note, when Shiina used that “I would date you if I were a boy” line, I was honestly pretty worried their love would turn out unfulfilled considering the drama tag. Luckily, Mako was quick to the draw and made this one of my favorite one-shots yet.

This chapter was horrifyingly wholesome.

Airi’s physical abuse was awful, but Hina’s emotional abuse takes it to a whole new level. I never thought I’d feel bad for Airi but damn, I kinda want her to recover somehow.

It sucks that we don't see much of Airi's perspective this chapter. Her calmness, the fact that she apologizes to Hina for the first time and her saying she will not go back makes me think she may attempt suicide very soon.

I agree that this will probably happen and I’m super curious what Hina’s reaction will be to it. Like with all things, I want a happy ending but I honestly have no idea what the fuck it’ll even look like for this series. Hina and Airi seem too far gone.

Whenever I see these two my heart swells then aches. So glad they come back in Shimeji Simulation. Good as that manga is, Yuu and Chito chapters are the cherries on top.

Mei Fujimatsu’s art has definitely changed since her Uni-girl manga (still sad it got axed). I liked the cute style on that one, but this more mature, gloomy look is really nice too.

I have a feeling this manga is going to be far less messy than people are expecting (I really hope I’m not wrong).

Any chances of incest are next to nil considering Yuna seems to be completely blind toward Sena’s feelings. Along with that, the love triangle seems to be more of an obstacle our main pair has to work through rather than a question of who’s gonna end up with who (unless there’s a new character involved).

I like Kiku so far, she’s very perceptive toward Sena’s emotions and I’m almost certain it’s out of genuine love rather than an creepy obsession or rebound off of Yuna. Though the latter two things might factor into their relationship together in some way, I suspect it’ll be more like Sena projecting her fears—that aren’t completely unwarranted—onto Kiku, a product of her general insecurity and not being in a great place mentally. As for Yuna, she’s a tone deaf but well meaning enigma right now. I think she’ll say ‘yes’ to Kiku’s proposal carelessly then spend the time from and in Japan mulling over it. I mean, it’s your ex asking if she could date your little sister. Then potential drama will spring up when she tries to interfere and—

Yeah, I dunno. But high hopes for this one, I like Mei Fujimatsu so I hope they can pull this off. Regardless of what happens though, Sena better end up happy. That girl is hurting.

Every page hurts knowing the end of chapter 1, so the depressing as fuck tag is definitely deserved here. I don’t know if I can handle the story going all the way back to their youth.
