Hm what doesn't make sense to me is that Mika and her mom came from a neighborhood of equality where the people are exposed to both beastfolk and humanfolk, so why did they think it was a good idea to move to a place with only beastfolk that haven't had any exposure to humans to avoid judgement? I feel like their original town would've been more accepting of her mom than this town has been of Mika.
The judgement was probably from her turning into a beast folk, and they moved there because the people there wouldn't know about her mom turning into a beast folk. That's just my guess though.
