I don't mind the character and I actually enjoy satirical representation like these. Is good to laugh at myself every now and then you know?

Having said that, the lack of proper yuri is the only thing that keeps me from fully enjoying the story. With some seriousness to balance the comedy th whole thing feels off.

Tho even as a male yuri fan I don't really identify much with the MC, I get the gist of the jokes regarding that, as well as the shipping (which I also don't do myself).

I said it earlier: If this was a parody/joke manga of 1-5 chapters it would be fine if it had no yuri. Would stand as it's own for it's gimmick, and for those to whom it appeals... But 5 volumes of no actual yuri, ehhhhh... no thanks.

This is a rather overblown parody of male yuri fans, A big in-joke for fans about fans. As such, it can sometimes be more biting than funny. Like, MC shares all the possible traits of male yuri fans, including those used by (not only) female yuri fans as exclusion fuel. It's rarely found in anonymous communities, but sometimes crops up in pseudonymous ones. Female yuri fans (like Mrs. Friedman) exhibiting derogatory attitude about male yuri fans, going as far as calling them "creeps", "losers" and other names, all in effort to insinuate that male fans are not TRUE fans, and not TRUE target audience for TRUE yuri.

Additionally, ire towards this manga may come from it repeating the same joke for too long AND moving in a direction some feel inappropriate for something running in a yuri magazine. I.e. having all yuri developments in it be entirely MC's fantasies, or having girls happily hook up with guys in later chapters. Admittedly, I have no idea what happens in this manga as I didn't read the raws, but judging by first two chapters (i.e premise and it's execution) and the fact about 5 volumes being out, it might heavily be the former.

All in all, combination of biting satire/parody, same joke for too long, and lack of actual yuri developments in a "yuri" manga might be what contributed to such heated reactions from some of /u/'s denizens.

P.S. Five volumes, man, FIVE! That's 3 more than Strawberry Shake Sweet. 3 more than Hanjuku Joushi. 4 volumes more than Ebisu&Hotei.

Sheesh... I really don't see this holding up for longer than 3-5 chapters, tbh. The hell is going on in 5 volumes...

Octave is great! It's a little angsty (that ain't a bad thing tho) if I recall properly but it's great.

How angsty is it? I don't like too much angst and drama in my yuri. It's why I dropped "The Feelings We All Must Endure".

Mmm, sorta angsty, but not too much into the melodramatic side that most angsty drama mangas have. It's pretty realistic compared to the usual stuff and better paced. Personally consider it one of the few good yuri dramas, I find most of them to be a shoddy drag/repetitive/cringey-soap-operas.

Why is the game tagged with "nudity"?

Well, thing is steam tags are not reliable, and sometimes even jokes. (ppl probably thought it was gonna have sexual content... given the franchise. The game had Horror tags for a while x)

Also, seems like nudity tags make it so ppl have to put in their ages in some countries before getting in the game's store page.
