I think unlike Humbert Humbert? or whatever his name was, she's not okay with it. I also think yuzumori-san will start thinking of her as increasingly weird. She might even start avoiding Yuzumori-san. It may turn out like Kodomo no Jikan - where she waits patiently for her to turn - I suspect 16 - and then pounces.

Oh, yes. Mimika has to be the polar opposite of him: perfectly earnest and uncomplicated (to the point of being a little dense). Humbert knows very well what he's doing in both his interactions with Lolita and his deception of the audience. Meanwhile, Mimika doesn't have a damn clue what to do with herself ever.

Another point of contrast I found interesting: Yuzumori very much has her own character here, as opposed to Lolita who only existed as the dehumanized object of Humbert's desire. I feel like the relationship will continue in this story, and a big part of making the narrative work will be developing Yuzumori's character around Mimika.

I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. I'm not sure how canny the author is, but it still feels like there's more to this than an older girl lusting after a child while the rest of us look on semi-approvingly and give a knowing chuckle at her freakouts. There may end up being nothing, but every chapter I'm waiting for some kind of trapdoor.

My overhype sensors triggered really early during the development of No Man's Sky.

The clincher had to be when they started talking about procedural generation of worlds and a "massive universe" despite the game being in development for less than a year at the time. I've been in the space sim/space flight genre for awhile, and the only successful, large-scale game universes in the genre were created manually with massive amounts of development time poured into them.

Sure, it would've been great if NMS had miraculously invented the silver bullet algorithm of procedural video game content development. But you don't bank on claims like that.

Just curious but... it's just me or the last two or tree chapters have a little bit different art? Ô.o

We've reached the switch from Hirari-printed issues to online publication. So it's probably something between the change in medium and changes in Takashima's style itself.

Edit: I just noticed that chapter 9 is on the "Most Popular of Past 7 Days" sidebar. How many of you are willing to bet it's because people heard about new chapters being published, went to the Kase-san page on Dynasty, then immediately scrolled down and clicked the item at the bottom of the listing?

I check in on this randomly as it's progressing to see if the writing has improved, but nothing so far. Everything still feels really stiff and awkward and I'm not compelled to actually go back and read through the whole thing.

I'm wondering how much of it is the translation, how much of it is the original text, and how much of it is just cultural differences.

Somehow, Mimika's side ponytail and silliness reminds me of Nanakorobi Nene from Koukaku no Pandora.

It took me awhile, but I finally remembered what her ponytail reminded me of.

I feel like I can sympathize with her roommate......

You lazy-ass xD... I'm joking, she's lazy and doesn't do any chores, but when Nanami needed her she was there giving her support :3 she's a good person and that's all that matters.

Besides, she's unbearably cute!

"She's an awful person but it's ok because she's pretty" can work in a story, but doesn't fly in real life. That said, Kaede isn't a terrible person. She's very supportive of Kazuki and at least somewhat aware of how her more immature/irresponsible tendencies get on Kazuki's nerves.

Yea I like the setting and I don't mind Kaede being unorganized and childish but common, don't make her into completely inept person. For crying out loud Kazuki can't even tell if she is actually working or not. What a great image of mangaka.

That part feels kind of like mangaka self-deprecating in-joke to me.
Although I do wonder . . . I get the impression this girl is always sending in storyboards but never apparently working on an actual manuscript; is she even getting published?

She's probably storyboarding for someone else's writing.

I was going to mention the story seems to be hinting at Misha's mother being deceased and her animosity towards maids and caretakers being based around her belief that nobody can replace her mother, which would be a rather touching piece of character and narrative development.

But I'll just join everyone else in talking about sweet abs.

Maybe I'm just insufficiently jaded due to not having read Stretch, but the subtext in the first chapter gives me a lot of hope. There's the old standard "weirdly intimate friendship between women that may or may not be construed as potential romance" (trite, but I love it because I'm yuri trash), but the amount of interest and commitment Kazuki shows towards Kaede seems like an indication of latent homoromanticism (no signs of homosexual interest... yet). The (ex-)boyfriend notices it despite never even seeing the two in person, though he ends up expressing it in the most ass way possible.

I think the long-distance nature of her relationship with Yuuji was a metaphor to Kazuki's emotional distance to it. She's going along with it because she's trying to sculpt her life around the heteronormative hard-working wife ideal: she's doing it because she feels like she's supposed to, not because she personally wants it.

TL;DR It feels like A Room for Two: Post-Grad Edition. Kazuki = Kawawa, Kaede = Kasumi.
