I also use Eyja to trust farm RI-8. How do you use her? I need 4 operators, but that's mostly because I didn't bother to figure out how to make Hellagur solo line properly yet and how to deploy Eyja to make sure she survives and gets the job done.

Trust

I use her 3rd skill when the first big shield dude starts walking down and then again when the big robot gets to the top area in range of her skill.

If you just go full dps and kill everyone before they can damage you, then that also works!

If I'm being serious though, Flint isn't the best dps to build around cause she only blocks one and then her skill makes her not block anything. She can't solo any lanes but she could be good if you place a defender behind her... Brawler guards aren't that great for most maps but they aren't unusable either so just do whatever you feel like.

I tend to always use a "meta" team when I'm first clearing new maps so I pretty much end up using the same 12 or 13 operators every time until I decide I feel like doing a map again. Which I don't really do unless I'm trust farming and even then I'm using the same operators I usually do to clear it easily. For example I'm using Thorns + Eyja to trust farm RI-8 since apparently they can duo that map without needing to be maxed.

Also, I'm not sure if everyone knew this yet but one of the medals for the event has the requirement that you only cut down 2 or less mushrooms on RI-8 to obtain the medal. If you want it trimmed, you'll need to clear it without cutting down anything. Just letting people know cause I had to search it up to see what I needed to do since I didn't get the medal when I cut down everything my first time through. Every other medal will want you to cut down mushrooms though so do that for every other map besides RI-8.

Huh, I never really had any trouble with them since using Ningguang. I'll be honest though, I farmed a bunch using Jean and Venti at the very start since I got lucky and got both in the same ten roll and they trivialize content with Jean being tanky as shit and Venti being literally broken so I never had any trouble doing the highest difficulty domains. After that, I got Ningguang to 80 the week I got her and used her as my main dps (replacing both Jean and Venti since I had 10 friendship with them and didn't want to use them anymore). She also trivialized any hard content with just killing the Fatuis before they could get their barriers up, and even when they did, she still dealt enough damage that the shields weren't much trouble. Basically what I'm saying is: build Ningguang.

Straight up she's good for everything even if she doesn't deal the MOST damage as a main dps due to her being geo, she's tanky if you can play around with the crystallize shields and she dishes out enough damage to kill most enemies with like, a combo of using her skill + burst in succession. And if you don't do that, her normal attack x2 + charged attack combo deals a boatload of damage by itself so there you go.

For comparison's sake, my Ningguang does around 13k charged attack without counting in any buffs or the damage from her jade stones. Her skill deals around the same amount of damage. This is non-crit damage BTW, she deals around 20k with her crit. This is non reaction damage and all solo damage by herself. Her normal attacks are around 3k each but that's not exactly what you're relying on for her damage so that's irrelevant. It's just a bonus since her whole dps centers around her skill and charged attack. My stats for her aren't even the best they can be since I use Solar Pearl with fairly good but not optimal artifacts since I genuinely hate farming for those. I basically used the first crit dmg circlet I got so the substats for most of her artifacts are kinda good but not that good.

BTW, she's fairly easy to build a team for since the only thing you really need is another Geo character for the resonance boost and then a healer and whoever else you want. It's a non reaction team so you aren't limited to complimentary element characters, you can even use two geo and two anemo and it'll be fine probably. Maybe won't work in Abyss, but everywhere else should be fine. I would try it but the only built anemo characters I have are 5 stars so I'm not sure that'll be an accurate portrayal of a regular team comp...

Huh. I was planning to do 10 rolls at most cause I wasn't interested on getting Eunectes and somehow got her on the first roll........... Gacha truly does like being contrary to your desires huh...

Anyways I was honestly hoping to get Flint but I'm not interested in wasting any rolls on any banner that's not Surtr so I only pulled twice more to try and get Aciddrop and I did so I'm done with the banner for good now. I'll just hope I get Flint spooks in later banners.

Finished everything in the Lantern Rite event so now it's back to grinding for Xiao's team. Got all his stuff so now he's hitting 25-35k on his plunges without assistance. Leveled Jean up to speed and I also decided to shuffle my teams cause my day being ruined by the Ruin Hunters flying up in the air and not having an archer sucks too much.

Also man, I really enjoyed the Xiao story quests we got cause I've always been a sucker for tragic heroes who care in their own way. All of his decisions that people call "edgy" are for the sake of others and the delivery of his lines in Chinese make him feel more like a Bodhisattva then an edgy teenager since he remains in the mortal realm to endure suffering for the sake of guarding mortals from evil. Either way I enjoyed how melancholy his story felt and how he got to feel some reprieve with the Traveler's help.

On another note, Ningguang hits even harder now that she's C2. Literally an extra dump truck of damage from being able to spam her skill an extra time since it deals a lot of damage on contact. I'm probably gonna use my future crowns on her skills to get her even more insane.

In essence, is it a double standard to complain that a work has "too many" lesbians?

I think this depends on context because there's a lot of situations that can be said in. If someone were a straight person complaining about "homosexuality being shoved in their faces" then yes that's definitely a double standard and also homophobic. If it's a queer person complaining about there being too many lesbians and not enough representation of other identities, het included, then that's a different situation. This situation takes into account that said queer person also complains about all het casts for a similar reason.

The issue of whether something is a double standard depends on the intent of the person committing that act. If they won't complain about an all het cast and only complain about all lesbian or LGBT casts, then that's a very clear example of a double standard.

I don't think someone having issues with having "too many lesbians" is inherently bad because there can be good discussion about it. If, for example, the setting is an all female world where everyone is gay, then it doesn't really feel like representation. The struggles of being gay include being a minority and a setting like that would eliminate any real world connections that can be made in that aspect. Going further, someone might also feel that it objectifies lesbians without thinking about their struggles.

I don't personally believe what I gave an example of in the previous paragraph, but it's a valid viewpoint that people could have. Something to note is that I'm assuming that the person who has issues with "too many lesbians" are queer themselves when I said they're not showing a double standard. I think it's a different story if the person complaining is straight since the non-homophobic reasons behind not liking a story to have too many lesbians all have to do with different views on queer representation. Straight people don't exactly get to have a say on whether representation is good or bad on an identity they have no part of.

As my closing statement, I'd also like to note that someone being queer doesn't make them exempt from having double standards. If they don't complain about all het casts or all gay men casts but only complain about all lesbian casts, then that's also a double standard. Basically if the only thing they have a problem with are lesbians and noone else, then they have double standards and probably need to address their lesbophobia.

Tomimi is really cute, but I don't understand when you'd ever want to use physical dmg caster outside like CC with sniper ban? Not to mention her range when skill is active makes her almost unusable.

Well one thing to note is 777ucky said maxing Tomimi was something he really regretted so yeah... probs someone you'd never use. Won't say no to operators with interesting skillsets though, whether they're actually useful or not.

I'm just looking forward to Fungimist cause then I can flex my Thorns and Scene to their maximum usage. Pretty much insta-E2'ed her since she's OP in the roguelike content.

Sad that they won't be adding the Blaze or Gavial skins in the story though cause they look really good there. Gavial (edited background cause I couldn't find a better pic) especially cause she got some abs showing. Wish they were a little more defined but beggars can't be choosers ig.

On another note, I finally got everyone I could possibly get in recruitment now that I got Istina and Swire. I can focus fully on max potting THRM-EX now. I also got my 5th top operator tag and let it go random and got my final copy of Hoshi I needed for her full pot. Tbh I should've just used the tags for Saria but full pot Hoshi has a better power up so I'm not mad.

It's funny cause I've been trying to get Swire for the LONGEST time just for her CNY skin and now that I have her, her purpose can finally be fulfilled. That smug little tiger cub is just too cute to not use as an assistant.

You shouldn't be avoiding the anemo tower that much lol. I've basically AFK'ed the game mode up to now by putting down hydro + cryo + anemo for the first wave and then adding pyro towers afterwards. The anemo towers are really good for slowing down the running mobs and stalling mobs in general. Basically with that setup + a mine set behind, it's impossible to leak any enemies. Also tbh while electro towers are decent, they're the ones I end up avoiding the most cause pyro really is the MVP when it comes to dishing out damage. If you have any electro towers by the last wave of the really big dudes, you might be in trouble. It's better to replace them at the end so that you can kill them faster. The best setup is generally 2 hydro, 2 cryo, 1 anemo, and 2 pyro towers for everything tbh.

I don't remember if anyone ever linked this but holy shit the Chinese VAs are really good singers. It's Xiao, Venti, Klee, and Qiqi singing for the song and the lyrics are in character too. You can turn on CC to see the translations. Venti especially sounds really good, like he sounds exactly like the bard he should be.

Honestly I didn't really want to play with CN voices in the beginning cause I'm biased towards the JP VAs, but since switching to Chinese, I have never regretted it. They literally sound perfect for the characters, which makes sense since the original voice is Chinese and Mihoyo would have direct oversight over the voice directing. The JP side might have more famous names, but the CN side just fits more imo.

THRM-EX doesn't have the support tag. His tags are robot, nuker, specialist, and melee. Of course, his tags are a big problem with getting him imo. Specialist guarantees you at least a 4 star, nuker guarantees you a 5 star, melee is too broad of a tag, and robot can get you Lancet or Castle. Basically you don't really want to choose 3:50 as the recruitment timer for specialist or nuker tags cause you could get gold certs for that and the other tags are a huge shot in the dark, especially since the robot tag is extremely rare.

And yes, you'd need to set your timer to 3:50 since 4 hours eliminates your chances of getting 1 star operators and the problem with this is that lower times decreases the chance of a tag sticking. Honestly I'm just glad I got full pot Lancet and Castle. Now it's gonna be way way harder to full pot THRM-EX since I've been getting Lancet every time a robot showed up.

@Rye The recommended weapon for Xiao would be Blackcliff since the stat that levels with his ascensions is crit rate. The other weapons could work but a physical damage build isn't that good on him so you'd always want one focused on stacking his burst and anemo damage. Favonius is alright since he does have trouble with his burst uptime cause he doesn't generate particles in his burst form, but doing that would mean you'd need to farm a lot more for good artifacts.

For the artifacts you should use, since I'm already talking about his build, you'd want the 2 piece anemo set and 2 piece gladiator. For the sands of eon, you'd want atk% as main stat, goblet you'd want anemo dmg bonus, and the circlet you'd want crit dmg. The substats you should prioritize would be crit rate = crit dmg > energy recharge > atk%.

Btw, the reason this build is best for him is cause his plunging dmg multipliers are incredibly high and you'd want to abuse that as much as possible. That's also why you should level his normal atk first, then his burst, and then his skill. His plunges in burst form also have the added benefit of being an AoE atk that deals two sets of dmg, one for hitting them with the plunge and one for the impact from hitting the ground. That's the other reason why his anemo build is the best one.

As my final closing statement, some advice on how to maximize his damage is by animation canceling while you're plunging. You do this by pressing attack and then immediately jumping before pressing attack again. The first hit Xiao does is 2 movements, so you can practice outside of his burst by trying it out normally. You want to jump before the 2nd movement starts. If you use his burst like that, then Xingqiu's and Beidou's bursts will work with his since he gets a normal attack in before plunging.

Today's Pyrite Gorge daily ended up being laughably easy. Thorns + Silverash + Angelina + Suzuran = 60% increase in health and 50% defense boost literally don't matter. I thought I wouldn't be able to do max risk so I tried without the 60% increase since my operators aren't max level, but turns out that wasn't even necessary! The only thing "harder" at max risk was timing Ange's skills correctly so that she can kill the wraiths before they zoom out of range.

I really don't want to level anyone beyond E2 Lv40

Why exactly?

Logical answer: it takes too much resources and it'd rather spend it on promoting more operators instead of pooling it on one.

Non-logical answer: I'm too OCD to change it now that I've been keeping everyone at E2 Lv40 for forever and if I level one person I would need to do it for everyone.

Wow Surtr's self damaging ability with her S3 sure is a lot. I saw video using no less than 7! medics and/or healing defenders just to keep her alive.

Yeahhhh, but you're not supposed to keep her alive LOL. Her S3 is basically a nuke you put down to annihilate some peeps and then retreat and do it again once her cooldown is done. Her skill says that she'll continously lose HP where the percentage lost increases as time goes on, capping at 20% per second. It's the fact that it's a percentage based health drain that makes it so hard for her to stay alive.

On another note, I really hated the last 2 daily stages cause I had to do risk 13 for both since max risk was too difficult without leveling my units more. I really don't want to level anyone beyond E2 Lv40 so I'll just sacrifice the bragging rights of getting max risk lol.

^ Oh yeah, that's definitely a thing but you can avoid those by just reading through the summaries of stuff before actually reading them. I've definitely read my fair share of those types of stories but the ones I listed aren't of that type. While all of the MCs are definitely beautiful cause that's just a staple no matter what, the ones I listed don't have that problem.

Those super rich stories tend to be based on the "overbearing president falls in love with me" trope that is very popular in China. All you need to do is avoid that tbh, though the stuff I read in regards to those tend to be quick transmigration novels and those are literally "the MC travels into novel worlds and replaces a character in it" so that feeling of it being too good to be true doesn't hit as hard since the worlds the MC goes into are supposed to be fictional anyways.

Since I already recommended some stuff, here's some more.

There is a Wall Behind the Shadow (9 chapters translated): an extremely long survival in the wilderness novel where the MC is actually transmigrated from zombie apocalypse times and retained her power abilities from that time. The romance is very slowburn but it continuously dangles sweetness in front of you before they finally get together very late into the story. The main appeal of this is the wilderness survival plot with a mix of live streaming all of it happening with another mix of avoiding being killed by assassins paid to be on the program. This story was very immersive in how it described the surroundings and actions the characters took, and I genuinely liked all the characters I was supposed to like.

Love from the Male Protagonist's Harem (no translations): a novel that really fooled me with its summary. I thought it would be a romantic comedy but instead I got repeatedly gut punched with angst. The MC transmigrated into a xianxia (immortal cultivation) world with a system that gave her the powers of a puppet master. Problem is, puppetry is illegal and things aren't as they seem. The MC befriends the male protagonist of the world while they both were beggars and then went to the same sect together. Along the way the MC meets a lot of different girls who the MC believes to be the harem of the male protagonist, and gets entangled with them in one way or another.

The thing is though, things aren't as they seem and the past she has with them is much deeper than she remembers or knows. The real emotional entanglement she has with them was genuinely heartbreaking... and I was conflicted on who I wanted her to end up with. I couldn't believe how well the author made me like each love interest and I couldn't decide who I was rooting for at all. While there was a sizeable amount of romance, a lot of the plot was still focused on unraveling the mystery of the MC's past along with some drama involving her puppetry and the evil sect that one of her love interests is the leader of.

Ex-Girlfriend Find Out (not sure on the title translation tbh, also not translated): a quick transmigration novel focused entirely on how strong the MC is. She's originally from the villain department of the transmigration agency(?) where she went into novels and replaced the villain and completed their roles. She got transferred to the ex-girlfriend department where her job is to avenge the person she takes the place of who got broken up with in despicable ways. The difference with her is that she is the type of person to directly go to violence and torture since she was originally a general in an interstellar world before becoming a transmigrator. She went completely against the regular ways of how people handle the ex-girlfriend tasks and that's the biggest appeal of this story. There's 5 worlds in total, only 4 of which are focused on revenge while the last one is a bugged world where she was helping fix said bug. The love interest meets her by coincidence in the 1st world and follows her into the subsequent worlds. The romance takes a while cause the love interest doesn't have her memories when she becomes an NPC of the worlds the MC goes to, but it works out eventually and honestly was pretty damn sweet.

The plot of each world is basically like this:
1st world: Battle Royale with supernatural elements and rules in place before the students can kill each other to find a way out of there.
2nd world: ancient Chinese setting where the MC is an abolished queen and the emperor is the scumbag who needs to be dragged down from his throne.
3rd world: cabin in the woods type of horror where the group of people need to figure out the mystery of each floor while killing each other until only 1 person remains who can exit the cabin.
4th world: entertainment circle where the scumbag is an actress and the MC is her agent. Lots of careful planning here and nowhere near as violent as any of the other worlds. Also where the romance peaked.
5th world: bugged world where the MC and love interest needed to complete tests to survive until the end. Most tests involving life or death situations of course.

Compared to superconduct where it reduces physical res on an enemy, all electro-charged does is deal electro dmg over time. Electro-charged, overloaded, and crystallize are bottom of the barrel when it comes to reactions.

The game favors dps checks so vaporize and melt are the favored reactions, with superconduct coming after cause it shreds physical res, allowing increased physical dmg taken by the enemies. Frozen is constant CC while swirl has the VV artifact set that reduces elemental res of the element swirled. Crystallize has been buffed a little cause of the recent geo buffs, but it's still not that good either since you need geo resonance for it to not be complete trash.

You can certainly use the team comp you like without thinking about reactions, but that doesn't make those reactions not suck. I'm still gonna use Xingqiu and Beidou with Xiao cause idgaf but electro-charged still isn't good since it has no dmg multipliers or shreds.

Just wanted to lament how I barely have any motivation to read JP yuri nowadays. I started reading CN webnovels a few months back and the sheer quality of them compared to every JP plot I've seen makes all of the JP yuri I've read fall flat in comparison. On one hand, novels tend to be deeper in the first place unless the mangaka makes 100% use of the art medium to tell their story like in Bloom Into You. On the other hand, it feels like yuri manga still has a sizeable amount of S class yuri or yuri that panders to men while CN yuri, at least the stuff I read from jjwxc, pander to queer women.

I tried reading JP webnovels too, but they also fall flat compared to the CN novels I've read. I Favor the Villainess is one I read that I sorta liked but not really cause I felt the politics talked about in the novel ended up being very immature and the romance felt forced in the end. I don't have a CN novel that I can directly compare to it, mostly cause all of the "villainess" novels tend to be quick transmigration novels and can't really be compared to regular isekai novels...

What I can compare though, is how well-written the CN novels are. I read most CN novels using Google translate cause there aren't many translators for yuri novels and I can still see how good they are. A few examples being Female General, Eldest Princess (fully translated), My Feelings Can Wait (first 9 chapters translated), and Three Hundred and Sixty Five Kinds of Difficult Living Methods (no translations).

Female General, Eldest Princess is a story about a woman crossdressing as her twin brother to enter the military to avenge her village that was slaughtered by the Huns set in ancient China. She eventually becomes a general while the other main character is the eldest princess of the current dynasty whose mother just died, sending her and her brother's positions into peril. Her goal is to successfully survive and seal her brother as the crown prince. The romance between her and the other MC is very very slow burn and the biggest focus of the story is on the political plot of the imperial court and the revenge plot in the military that end up mixed cause the eldest princess is a very ruthless and smart woman. This story is almost 200 chapters long so I tried very hard to condense it into a paragraph, but by God did the author do a phenomenal job of making this story extremely good in all aspects.

My Feelings Can Wait is entirely different. It's a rebirth story set in the entertainment circle or think Hollywood where both the main characters are actresses. It's an extremely angsty story of a broken relationship, loss of life, and second chances. The two MCs gradually reenter into each others lives, figure out what made them not work before, and actually resolved their mistakes before finally getting back together. I cried multiple times reading this and sympathized with both the MCs through all their hardships from the past life to where they are now. I have yet to read a single yuri manga that tugged at my heartstrings the way this one did.

The last one is Three Hundred and Sixty Five Kinds of Difficult Living Methods and honestly? This novel was everything I never knew I wanted. It's a suspenseful murder mystery, but with YURI. The murder mystery itself was also very well-written and engaging. The whole dynamic is detective x criminal except things aren't as they seem and the relationships and strings tying things together are a big surprise when you finally get to the reveal. The romance is also a lot more prevalent than I expected from a plot like this, but tbh it really added to the overall drama since it involved criminal psychology and the like. Another thing I want to point out is how well the author treated mental illness in this work. Mentally ill characters were treated respectfully and weren't villainized for their illnesses.

Anyways, just those 3 stories out of the dozens I've read already have way more interesting and engaging stories than any yuri manga I've ever read. It's made every yuri one shot or manga I've read since then (with certain exceptions) feel bland and tasteless.
