It seems like the upshot is they can't scissor, which doesn't seem like such a hardship since lots of lesbian couples don't.

My partner gets nothing out of it no matter how hard we try which is a serious hardship for me. (>_<)

No don't do that actually. Kissing someone in their sleep isn't quirky or cute, it's bad and I hope the next chapters won't frame it as something positive or brave.
