Guessing this got dropped or something? I'm curious.

I have the raws for the whole series if anyone is interested. One volume long. I like this short series a lot for some reason.

I hope that now that they're together and Citrus is getting a monthly release schedule, the story would have a more natural flow to it and Saburouta won't force unnecessary drama into it.

I kinda, kinda want more drama. I'm just a horrible person, though.

I'm incredibly mad.

You know, forget the NTR stuff: this is a totally BAD series.

I'm always insulted when it gets compared to citrus. They're both melodramatic, sure, but THIS...good fucking god. What's popular is popular, though.

@Swifft These are all good points, it's been a while since I read the manga so my perception of the father was extremely skewed, I low key confused him with the dad from Clannad. I will say that I think it is possible and optimal to respect your children, though by that I mean "consider what they say if their concern is legitimate" not "aquiese to their every whim." On the subject of chores and brattiness, much as we'd like to, we can only control a person's behavior so far. I always did what my parents asked because I wanted to, while my brother stubbornly refused to do household chores at all, and still grew up to be a responsible and kind adult. Just a lot of variability in response to parenting

Raising children is hard. I didn't always do my chores either and I still kinda don't, though I wasn't punished for that harshly (I was only ever actually punished for doing outright BAD things -- which I did). Trying to get a kid to do chores can just be an uphill battle and it all depends on the kid.

Also, the father in Clannad...if I recall correctly he was bad as a plot point; like that was a central issue, so if you did indeed get them a bit mixed up I can completely understand the opinion. Chihiro (the father in Sen to Man) is just not ideal, I guess I'd say, but who ever is really an absolutely ideal parent? Since his daughter isn't ACTUALLY losing her mind over him, I think he's doing more than well.

On that note, there IS a more questionable father in the form of their neighbor's dad in this series, although I find it interesting that he might actually be a good FATHER to his child, but it's not clear since our perception is through that of a kid who's experienced trauma.

Well, I wrote a lot about this in my review, but basically there's a lot more to this series than might initially appear to be the case. It's not JUST a manga about a somewhat contentious parent/child combo, basically.

I will withhold my opinion on spanking because I don't think this is the place for it. I know there are implications that the father in this story has been a victim of circumstance, but I really have to question why his go to parenting style is to be consistently negative and irritable towards his child, and that he would even be tempted to strike his daughter in the face. I know parenting style is a highly individual thing, but at what point do we start holding someone accountable for their mistakes? Does having a busy and demanding life excuse you from your obligation to treat others respectfully? (These aren't rhetorical questions, I really do wonder about these things)

He really isn't "consistently negative". He demonstrates that he finds her cute regularly, and he doesn't consider a bane of his existence or something. He's a parent who gets annoyed when his brat of a daughter doesn't do chores. That's...extremely common. Natural, in fact. And he doesn't even really punish her, except a vague event in the past he instantly regretted. She gets an allowance, she gets his affection, how many "mistakes" are there, really? Some insensitivity toward a situation he could never relate to (i.e. menstruation)?

You also don't really have to "respect" your kids, because kids are generally kind of awful. You raise your kids, and don't treat them badly, but they're generally too immature to be deserving of respect. That said, blogging about his lazy daughter without her consent was somewhat lacking in respect on one hand, but on the other a lot of parents do that and it's not REALLY harmful.

But really, I think your perception of him as a parent is too negative. His daughter doesn't even hate him, though she complains regularly (and of course she does, because she's around that age). He's an awkward parent for sure, but meh, he's also alone. Aside, never really understood why people get upset over the prospect of spanking, having known children who suffered actual abuse.

Some people may hate me for this but I'll say it anyway. No good reason to ever hit your child. I don't care what your situation is. There is no correlation between beating and long term child success, and all the parent is achieving is making their own kid more likely to emulate their parenting style when they are an adult

Not sure about that. And I don't mean "I'm not sure it's not okay to hit your child in the FACE" (as happened in this series), but spanking? Eh. Myself and my sisters turned out fine after it. Anecdotal, sure, but I don't have much else.

That said the dad regretted hitting her immediately, obviously was like "oh shit, I shouldn't have done that", and his daughter actually overplayed the injury. He's not the sort to use that kind of punishment, and it was probably a rookie parenting mistake.

Picked this up on a whim, decided to write a review for it on a whim:
https://terrenceswiff.wordpress.com/2016/11/14/a-room-for-two/

It's really a simple series. So simple that I very much appreciate it. No-stress manga with an unusual main coupling.

Yes. This. It's wondrous.

I just decided to catch up with the rough translations. They're not the best but I appreciate them. What's more, the series is SO MUCH BETTER right now. AAAAaaaahhh, It just puts this big smile on my face and sets my heart aflutter. I'm seriously in love with it; kind of wish I could read it raw every time it was released but I don't know the first thing about subscribing to Japanese publications (and I'm pretty sure Citrus is either magazine or mobile app only). Damn.

But like seriously, it's so damn good; not even ironic appreciation. I'm adoring it right now.

I have given this manga a proper review!
https://terrenceswiff.wordpress.com/2016/11/02/is-my-hobby-weird/

See, this manga is fantastic. I don't review porn, but I think this book can't be ignored. For one thing, it's hardly pornographic, for another it's one of the most hilarious and sincere manga I've ever read. One of my favorites. It'd already get an A+ for butts, but it's so much more.

Reviewed it, like I'd planned to:
https://terrenceswiff.wordpress.com/2016/10/31/out-of-the-blue/

Went with "Out of the Blue!", listing the four titles associated with it and all the ways you can say them. What a nice-feeling manga. I so desperately wanted it to continue, and was depressed when the final final chapter came in. This was a strong premise with even stronger execution. Lighthearted but heartfelt; a definite favorite of mine.

Is it going to be released in the West? Have not heard about it.

Pfffffff

NO way it will. I'd be shocked.

This is a cute manga, really enjoyed reading through this. One question though, if I purchase the physical copy of the manga (in Japanese), there's no language barrier since there's no actual dialogue throughout the whole manga right? Just checking. ;;

Mostly. Some text is written on boards and on occasion there's a bit of small text.

I'm considering reviewing this, so I bought it. Here's the "bonus chapter", "Come Home Hungry":
http://www100.zippyshare.com/v/s5msv6cE/file.html

Raw, of course.

I'm wondering, when I write something on it, should I refer to it in an article title as Out of the Blue! or "i love you yori aisiteru"? The latter is the title of the tankoubon, but I've only ever seen it called the former.

EDIT: uploaded a different version with the original png files in all their bigness

I'm gonna say this once and for all.
The fanservicey chapter everyone keeps harping on is the series' pilot, which is clearly different in tone. The manga proper is a lot more toned down (and what little there is left is more tasteful), and focuses on cute/heartwarming youkai antics.

Well but I'm "harping" on how stripping, nudity, and sexualization are in many of the chapters (including the first, NOT the pilot). The pilot may be the worst of it, but it's an ecchi manga for sure. I just feel that's weird and kinda distracts from the usual tone. Would you not agree that if it wasn't there, the series would probably be better? I mean, the tone would at least be more consistent. Anyway, there's still plenty of not tasteful service even into the latest, even if the pilot is notably different.

Honestly if it just wants cute/heartwarming youkai antics, the fanservice shouldn't be there AT ALL. That's MY problem. I'm certainly no prude, but it's tone-clashing.

It's not a big deal but I can see why a person would take bigger umbrage with it.

What a funny title! I am both glad it exists and glad it's finally being translated, although I think it's funny enough to stand on art and paneling alone. It's REALLY good.

I'd actually call it subtext yuri, although it's very faint. After all the two most major characters express some desire for boyfriends, although there is that lesbian kabaddi player...

Since Kodomo no Jikan is here I'm not surprised to see this manga. I gave the series a review:

https://terrenceswiff.wordpress.com/2016/06/22/joou-sama-no-eshi/

A little surprised to see most of it wasn't uploaded here, but it is definitely a more heterosexual manga, even though the main character is a lesbian. I like this manga a lot, but not for its "yuri" aspects. Actually, I'd rather this one end heterosexually, to be honest. The relationship is just too good. It's also a good "motivational" series, surprisingly. Weird but great manga, IMO

By the way the first few chapters are trickery. The "main character"-like character is not the main character at all, it's the teacher.

Wasn't aware dynasty hosted this, but then again there IS Kuro. I reviewed the series a while back:

https://terrenceswiff.wordpress.com/2016/06/30/kodomo-no-jikan/

I actually thought the yuri stuff was handled well for a time, but do think overall Kuro was the most underutilized of the three girls. Maybe that's why Watashiya exported her to Joou-sama no Eshi as the main heroine. At any rate, I think this manga's very smart, and that its bad reputation is both overblown and unfortunate.

(why are the raws considered shitty)

You can sum up all the problems (ink issues, artifacts, looking too dark or sometimes not dark enough, etc) with "the pages are printed on low-quality paper". Even assuming the tankoubon raws did not LOOK better (they do, just compare latest chapters with chapters from volumes 1 and 2) it's often that the bound volume will have production error fixes, typo fixes, additional or removed content (not counting omake), and maybe dialog changes or chapter order changes (Mitsuboshi Colors, for example, has a tankoubon release that adds at least one new chapter/moves the original first chapter to the chapter 3 position).

The bound volume is almost always the superior format for a multitude of reasons, the only reason you might consider it inferior is if you are impatient and don't understand why someone would want to wait (if you want to do magazine scans and tank scans, that means you have to work on all the chapters twice, which is a pain).

Didn't realize this series was on Dynasty. I reviewed it, actually:

https://terrenceswiff.wordpress.com/2016/06/20/sen-to-man/

I think this series is quietly brilliant. Lots of subtlety in regards to some very serious issues, kind of like how Stretch worked. Also like Stretch, most of the time it's pretty good/lightly funny slice of life. Good stuff.
