It's probably the closest to a zero-sum game you're going to get fetish-wise. I've seen this happen a million times. Author A ships a girlxgirl couple. He draws yuri art for them. One day he decides it's time for H material. Unfortunately author A is a bit of an idiot. Shit, there's no dick, how does it even work? How do you fap to it if you can't self-insert 100% because you have different bits from the characters? Better add a penis to one or more (canonically cis since y'all so upset about this part) characters. This way potential yuri material has been turned into something different. qed.

It is a bit a bit uncomfortable for me to read since the love interest is cast as literally a trap: MC's fallen in love with what he thinks is a girl (despite his support of a fantasy version of crossdressers) and oh ho! what will he think when he finds the truth? So wacky, such shenanigans!

But based on a pretty pernicious stereotype of crossdressers and trans women that's a bit hard to shake for the sake of the wackiness, at least for me.

Well Megu doesn't really strike me as trans so if anyone reads this and thinks "gosh darn trans people always trying to trap people" it says more about them than the manga. Plus it's pretty much all on Soutarou for taking oblivious to the next dimension.

Finally some yaoi on Dynasty Scans. Tell me if you weren't thinking the same thing? xD

I think you're mostly alone there. Don't get too used to it, if it didn't have crossdressing it wouldn't even be here.

Oh, now that's quite interesting. Certainly, from the few flashbacks shots of her in school, it did look like she was wearing a boys' uniform, and with that framing, her character is super easy to identify with. You've gotten me kind of hopeful, now.

She did look a lot different in the two flashback images, but I can't imagine inserting something that significant into the story and not really deal with it.

While reading this manga, I came to realise that I found yaoi compelling to read when it's accompanied by a cross-dressing tag. For some reason, I prefer cross-dressing males than females. Anyone?

Please don't tell me that Takemiya, of all people, didn't just pull out the "she's a lesbian because of bad experiences with men" trope.

I hate it as a cliché and it has ruined lesser storied but to be fair there will be people with that kind of backstory in real life. Abuse - whether physical, sexual or emotional - is disgustingly common. This is the first character the author has written who has that kind of past so let's be merciful, she's really good about writing lesbians 99% of the time.

Besides, it can be hard to seperate effects of trauma from your core personality including facets of your sexuality. If the abuse hadn't happened she may have turned out liking women regardless. Another girl may have ended up going for men despite it (most real life cases would clearly fall into this category). I suspect one day science will be able to tell for certain whether childhood trauma can have an impact on a person's sexuality, until then however it's going to be a muddled affair.

I've always had this headcanon where Meiling is a hanyou and this story fits it quite nicely.

Literally worst manga I ever read. Props, author.

Only good thing was that Youko looked like Shuu from Hourou Musuko in the last chapter.
