I only read this just now and after glancing the comments I'm surprised that Watanabe is disliked, she isn't mean or anything, just... over the top awkward.

Most of us don't necessarily dislike her so much as we want her to have character development and grow out of her "must stop the gyaru from contamining my yuri" before any relationship takes form.

Honestly, the framing device seems kind of pointless for this story? It seems like this could have just been a story about a woman who regrets breaking up trying to get back together with her ex. The supernatural element doesn't really add much.

The time travel plot could be kinda redundant if it was only about the MC trying to rekindle their relationship, yes, but there is also the subplot of trying to avoid her coworker suicide, wich hse only knows is a thing cause of the time travel.

I'm reasonably sure that's entirely intentional tho. It seems to be something of a running theme in the narrative that her blinkered genre fundamentalism is thoroughly contrafinal and completely misses the point.

I think the issue is that we can see both of their internal narrations and well, just look at this chapter for an example:

MC: I have to keep this filthy gyaru out of my yuri atmosfere!
Gyaru: I'm kinda worried about her, since she only hangs with me and Fujiyama. It'd be great if she could make friends with more people.

Yes, she unintentionaly was involved into a very bad incident of her daughters life when she choose to put her trust in the wrong person, cause she is a human being and thus capable of commiting mistakes, but she immediately corrected said mistake the moment she was aware of the situation. She literaly went to the asshole's workplace, beat the shit out of him and got him fired. She then proceded to not ever bring any future date to her home just in case.

Yeah, it's kind of annoying how the MC continues to try to pigeonhole people she barelly knows into these narrow boxes. I mean seriously, "an ojou-sama absolutely mustn't be with a Gyaru"? How is that different from "a girl absolutely mustn't be with another girl"? For a self-proclaimed yuri fan she sure has some narrowminded ideas about love. Not to mention that her first reaction to believing two people where about to enter a relationship that didn't cater to her narrowminded view of how romance "must" go is to immediately try to interfere with it to avoid it.

Suffice to say, this chapter really hasn't endeared her to me.

I honestly would have stopped reading if it wasn't for the Gyaru. I hope the MC gets some character development.

I don't like it at all that the mother who is a whore and practically left his daughter at the mercy of a degenerate has a happy and satisfying life while the other mother has a somewhat miserable life, she is doing what is best for her daughter, there is nothing wrong with that.

Aparently having a healthy and active sexual life equals being a whore, and is not only morally wrong, it also means that the very suporting and loving mother that does the best that she can for her daughter is a bad person who doesn't deserve happiness.

Meanwhile the contolling and overbearing mother that demands the absolute best from his daughter with little if any positive reinforcement and who immediately tries to force her daughter to give up anything she deosn't agree with is a good person that only doing her best for her daughter.

At this point, I'm fairly certain that she is a lot less dense than what appears to be. I think she's actively trying to not even think of the possibility, cause she doesn't like the idea of entering a relationship with someone that the "system" makes you target. Something like that I'd wager.

God I love this arc. I'm not sure if I'd say it's a good one to be honest, but I've always loved stories that aren't afraid to embrace the madness.
