Oga, why can she see and remember Makoto? This became rather handy at the end, but even then, according to concept art it was planned for only Sayuri to see her that way. Her side plot got sidelined somewhat as well.

And Kusanagi. Her introduction came out of nowhere and she didn't add much to the plot, expect... well expect for the fact that for a short moment she saw something in Sayuri, what she and Oga saw in Makoto. This is Inception-level ominous as fuck.
Oh and I like to know what she thinks about the blanks she shot during her sessions with Makoto. Surely not that she has finally lost it. Not that as a result she thinks her making up with Sayuri was just wishful thinking and relapses.

Taking both into consideration, it feels like a sequel is coming.

Only in Mangoland is it impossible to distinguish an 11 year old girl from a 27 year old woman.

Surprisingly a lot of heart with a bittersweet ending (giving the abyssal life expectancy back then they may truly never ever see each other again).
But I like how consequent it was. What? They thought they can force to settle Kidaha down? Fuck! This! Shit! Of course with nothing to tie her down (causing the exact opposite of what her Exes trying to achieve, may even have been a very elaborate plan of Io's) she's gone off, probably to establish Smoke Mountain 2 with blackjack and hookers. Even Juna may get some, despite how incredibly rude and antagonistic she behaved initially.
