To hell with the guys. I can't empathize with them at all. There's plenty of fishes in the sea for them.

Because that is so not fair to us. It's not like us guys more heterosexual than homosexual fall in love with anything we can thrust our sword in. There's only 'at most' one special person for us at any given time the same exact way (since I still don't know where I stand on the concept of having more than one romantic partner at any given time, I'll assume it isn't a thing for sake of ease of argument only...it's rather irrelevant in this case). But all the same you're on the right track with the fact I see Hotaru and Yuma fitting together nicely and they seem to work well for each other.

Did you seriously #NotAllMen here? That's hilarious.

Has this place become the "tumblr reader" now?

This seems like one of the more realistic Takemiya drama scenarios, most people aren't into long distance stuff and couples breaking up doesn't always mean they're instantly over each other.

Wow, Ryu asagi's art is dreadful, now wonder that xenocross sonohana series tanked so hard

I almost couldn't get past page 2 (the back cover, kill it with fire) because it was just that bad but the actual manga is pretty decent. I can't think of a yuri-focused artist who doesn't have some kind of quirk or weakness in their style tbh.

Nothing wrong in reality, but regarding fiction? I's boring, and boring is bad for stories.

Pretty much this, it's the reason why good romances are almost nonexistant in anime even though there's an abundance of romcoms. All the male leads are boring as **** and it's completely unbelievable that so many chicks are all over them. Most relationships in real life aren't that asymmetrical. I know less about shoujo but I think it suffers from the same problem in reverse.

^agree with you on that lol, but then again isnt he just a normal guy?

Well that was my point. He's average to the point of boring, even his character design is fairly bland. He's completely forgettable compared to Reina but will probably 'win' anyway just cause he's male.

Not gonna spoiler but the show is probably going to have an open end as far as ships go because it won't cover all of the novels. So enjoy the qt Reina and Kumiko interactions for what they are. Just don't expect them to become a canon couple.

I kind of wonder why the male love interests always have to be so bland though, that grates on me the most...

Has their height difference increased/been more exaggerated in the recent chapters or was I not paying enough attention before?

So, long story short, Ran being blonde, while possible, is extremely unlikely.

That's pretty much exactly what I said in my 2nd post on page 100 but thanks for the genetics lesson I guess!

Cause genetics totally work like that.

Not likely but they can.

No, not unless there is a mutation.

She needs blond on both sides of her family in order to get it to work, just like how red requires it as well, and blue eyes. Bruce Lee could have a son who was blond at birth precisely because he was quarter German.

EDIT: Not that I mind Shou stretching the reality of the situation, but I find it interesting he adds in that the blond hair is silkier and softer, which in my experience is true.

Genetic mutation isn't "genetics"? :P
Hair, eye colour etc are polygenic traits so you can't just go and apply Mendelian rules to them. Recent European intermingling isn't necessary for blonde hair traits to surface either, there are/were Asiatic ethnicities with light hair and eyes. Basically "life finds a way"...

Aw, I kind of like the way he draws Ran. She's very top heavy, and so her body is proportioned with that in mind. True hourglass figures are rare in real life, anyway.

Eh, I'm not really complaining but you can't deny the back and butt in this chapter look like they wandered straight out of one of his loli manga.

Cause genetics totally work like that.

Not likely but they can.

That naked backside...
If you draw too much loli you'll forget what grown up women look like, don't do it kids.

I was wondering how "rape", "violence" and "comedy" would go together. That... works, I guess?

This isn't really yuri. If Sena had been a guy, the story would have been exactly the same, except we would have shouted "RAPE !" at the sex scene.

That makes no sense. It's yuri, they're two women. And where do you see rape? She was clearly into it.

They have Fisherman's Friend cough drops all the way over there? I always thought they were just a North American thing.

They are from England and available all over the world.

On a side note, "we can't get married and can't have children if we were the same gender" That's still a thing somewhere?

In most of the world. ;/
Heck, I'm from Western Europe and it's a thing in my country. We only have civil unions and step-child adoption, no outright marriage or adoption as a same-sex couple.

Well, truth be told and ignoring next chapter spoilers, Satou is doing the right thing, considering a teacher going out with a high school student is still pedophilia. Satou is being hated the same way any third wheel appearing out of nowhere to generate completely unecessary drama is hated

That's not pedophilia.

Oh dear, are we going to get into splitting hairs with "it's really ephebophilia" and the like? In any case, it's pursuing a relationship with a child or at least legally a child, as well as an abuse of power since she is a member of faculty. So the objection really doesn't hold much water because it's still bad no matter what names you apply.

All of which of course is avoided if they wait until graduation, which really isn't that far away. Then both are legal adults (although the brain is still developing into the mid-20's but nvm) and there's no professional ethics to deal with.

It's not splitting hairs to correct blatant misuse of a term.

If you want to argue the position of power angle then that's something else entirely.

I remember Bimbou scans saying " The next Tamamusi release is sure to spark conversation" in the previous forum for the " Yuri Girl " release.....wasn't expecting this...but you can't help but feel bad for Sensei, right? Forgive me for taking on a Cynical approach, but common: the fact that she can only love younger girls means she can never get into a serious relationship. That sucks, right? Imagine falling in love with the perfect girl, knowing that one day she's going to change into a huge turn off. I pity her.

She's a predator tho. I doubt she feels shitty about her preferences.

Predators have feelings too.

These comments crack me up. High school kids do dumb shit and usually don't have the most balanced and healthy relationships, what are you getting so worked up about? Nao is like the only decent character here, too. She's the driving force of the story, meanwhile Shino and Aoi have no personality and Chihiro appears to be some kind of psycho.

I saw a whole lot more Utena than SHAFT in the first episode. I actually have a bit of a hate boner for Shaft and especially Monogatari so I understand the sentiments expressed by some of you but don't let it consume you. Don't let some similarities ruin a potentially fine show for you. Shaft doesn't have a patent on experimental visual styles in anime and this was only the beginning, there's a good chance Ikuhara knows what he's doing, not just blindly creating his own spin on Monogatari.

Let me explain something to you. I am intersex, I am a woman with a penis, as well as a partial uterus, and vaginal opening.

It's nice to know my existence is just a fetish then.

(also, we don't know the context of this particular Eli, so for all we know, she could be intersex like myself, or trans)

But it bothers me when the "futa is cancer infecting yuri" because for me, it's one of the few times where I can personally relate to the character.

Ah c'mon, I was responding to transphobia accusations and you reply with something quite different while pretending it was about you. Real life people aren't called "futa" so I'm not sure where you see an implication that your existence is a fetish. I have no interest in insulting anyone here, there is no need to make it personal.

Real talk though, do you think the average artist who draws futa is doing it for the sake of intersex people? I get that it's nice when as a minority you can feel yourself represented in a fictional work for once - hell we're on a yuri focused site - but that doesn't mean we have to pretend that's what the author intended.

If one day someone creates a manga about a canonically IS or trans girl who has lesbian relationships ncluding sex scenes I wouldn't hesitate for a second to consider it yuri (I also read and enjoy Aiesu) but futa is an entirely different beast. It's usually a result of ignorance about female sexuality/anatomy, artistic laziness, phallocentrism or plain "omggg gurl with a dick" exotic fetishism (which I actually find harmful to perceptions of trans/IS individuals).

Last post on this because derailment.
