Is there a reason we can't discuss a show without turning around and beat on the author? For one thing you are basing the end of the novel on what you know of the anime (which is only animating the first novel) as opposed to the three novels total worth of story/development that you don't know about sans small translated excerpts. The spoiler also mentions that Kumiko and Reina are closer than ever before. It seems the idea of the red string of fate here refers to how these two will always be drawn towards one another. It does not have to be romantic in nature.

I'm only slightly disappointed in the fact that we won't get a nicely written, well-animated yuri story yet it seems. It wasn't much of a question in the first place anyways. Just take what you can and enjoy it.

Here's a little something extra to squeal about. They played a song called 愛を見つけた場所 (The Place We Found Love) for their duet.

I'm still trying to keep my hope low but it's so damn hard.

Are you being serious right now? Let me just remind you that it's the English version that's being changed, not the original Japanese.

You don't seem to have watched nor know anything about the monogatari series. If you're going to argue about it even when more than one person has already told you your original assumption is wrong, then please watch it first. Or the least you can do is do a little research about it.

I see what you mean. I suppose most of the ones who enjoy the monogatari series will enjoy yuri contents in a show even if the ending is grim (and said yuri character plays around a lot with our mc). It just has to be a good story that came with it. It seems only a minority are like this though. It might also be that the ones who don't like such contents are just more vocal about it.

Anyway, in the visual novel, Araragi is killed, goes to hell, gets Hachikuji back, is resurrected and Hachikuji becomes the god of the abandoned shrine. So Gaen has what she wanted and all is well that ends well

The point of a harem is usually to make the viewer guess at which one of the girl the MC is going to fall. But here, Araragi is bound to Senjougahara from the beginning and there was never any doubt he'd be with her.

The harem definition I'm going by here is when a main male character is surrounded by mostly females who shows some form of interest in him at one point or another, be it jokingly or not.

Ah, yes. Those people just want to make a waifu out of every anime girls they can find.

Even if I don't want to consider that some of those girls are romantically interested in Araragi, I would still label this show harem. The author's blatantly playing around with the idea that these girls could be in love with him Hachikuji's departure for one (right after we see her adult form too).

I find it really odd that a yuri fan would readily recommend a series with both an unrequited yuri crush and (major spoiler) a lesbian death arc end. Yet I've seen many do it, so I suppose that speaks volumes about just how beloved the series is.

I've found that I enjoy shows so much more when I'm not actively looking for the yuri. Most probably because when I'm watching a show, I've typically already gained an interest in it before hand and is more likely to enjoy the show. When I'm specifically watching a show for the yuri, I tend to slog through the rest of the story because I don't enjoy it as much.

This is just my long winded way of saying I watch anime because I enjoy it, not because I'm specifically looking for yuri. And it may or may not annoy me that sometimes people would just throw a show under the rug because it does not contain yuri/downplays yuri characters (and their feelings). This is a yuri forum though, so I'm practically just asking for it.

Anyway, I see why people would see it as a harem but to me, it's way more complicated than that.

It can still be a harem and be good. In fact, I'd prefer it that way. The word 'harem' typically has a negative connotation, but it really doesn't have to. And having shows like this convince me to not drop all shows with a harem tag on sight.

Just to add to the above explanation about Nadeko. You could say that she's in love with the idea of love. And pining after Araragi (who has absolutely zero interest in her) means that she can play being in an unrequited love with someone without being burdened by the emotional requirements of a real relationship.

If you're going to pick up monogatari, make sure you can stomach fanservice. I love the series, but it will take a really long time for me to watch one of the newest arcs (maybe never even).

Otherwise, uh, Yuki Yuna? It got a pretty subdued reaction overall IIRC so I wouldn't be surprised by not hearing about it. It had some middling subtext and really cool music+visuals, but it was overambitious and a little unfocused.

Debatable. The series did amazing things to my heart (and it continues to do so). I believe the show builds enough of the world to go on and fully focus on the club members. Of course, it's not perfect. But I'm still following their materials, so I think the show did exactly what it set out to do.

Goto's girlfriend is long dead. She's never coming back. He's still texting her because he's still in the process of getting over her. But of course, it's not exactly easy to get rid of that 'quirk' of his right away. He's been playing it up for so long after all.

I watched SamFlam twice and I'm having trouble placing these events you brought up. Goto's girlfriend is long gone for one thing. I don't remember Mizuki and Moe ever talk much about Mari's obsession with Goto. Yes, their relationship is unhealthy. Yes, Mari is a horrible person. I'd still like to think that after everything that's happened, they're capable of fixing their messed up relationship, even if just a little.

I quite enjoyed SamFlam. The yuri side-couple was a cherry on top the crazy ride.

even without any yuri bias, Rikka x Togashi is like the blind leading the blind in the middle of a sandstorm, I have never seen a relationship this horrendous, Nibutani and Dekomori are the leading stars with their chemistry

It's alright. Can be a good laugh from time to time. Nothing really special though. And it irks me a lot when they shove I HAVE A TRAGIC BACKGROUND STORY in your face. If you're talking yuri, MC is still as gay as ever. I doubt that would change.

Looks like they have a pretty pathetic budget though. Quality everywhere.

So Eupho does look like it's going to have a het pairing... Shuuichi and Hazuki. It's done nothing but increase the Kumiko x Reina subtext

Yuri/het aside, I'm having so much fun watching the show. I love having someone like Kumiko as the lead. Everyone else comes together to make it so much more enjoyable.

I finished episode 2 IIRC. I don't really like the girl's design and I'm not used to her voice yet. Will stay on my hold list for a while. Kind of unfortunate too 'cause I love Chihayafuru's design.

Well, it's horror if "There's ghosts." counts as horror. I don't know, I don't really care for horror.

I'd say mystery, not horror.

To me, some of the things the mushis are capable of can be considered horrific if you consider those oblivious to their existence/incapable of seeing them.

Yeah, actually I find it way too relaxing to be qualified as horror. After seeing it mentioned here, I checked on other site, and only one put the horror tag on it... I still can't really agree

Oh good. I'm not fond of horror and what Hylarn said made me warry of the episodes I haven't seen.

Mushishi is like 50% horror, though

I would argue 15%. Granted I've only seen like 6 episodes.

The thing about Mushishi and similar shows (Aria and Natsume) is that I can't watch them for a prolonged period of time. They're comfortable and I enjoy watching them, but the max I can go is 3 episodes at a time. Unfortunately, I marathon shows a lot, so it's really easy for me to put them on hold and forget about them.

Curious that is being published by Dengeki Daioh. I really like the way their uniform looks.

Since i don't remember them saying anything about delinquent's parents, I'll assume you're talking about Uehara's. In which case, I don't agree at all. They both work for months on end and neither of them is ever home. The show never said anything specific about the mother working that did not apply to the father.

Re-Kan ep6 just meh.
