Friends' drama got in the way, so the two don't have time to process the kiss just yet, but personally I think having time to cool off and stew it in their memories before discussing is better than the potential dismissing it out of embarrassment in the moment's heat.

But anyway, having to wait months to see how Nekozaki's murder mystery would play out while sifting through the coming drama of others is a bit trying for the impatient me.

Just when I thought Renako has some reasonable reactions to such speedy confession, even recognised Mai's brainwashing, she fell right into Mai's insistent hands.

It's kind of funny that both are very inexperienced about what they are after (Mai wants romance, Renako wants a best friend, neither has one before), yet they are very amandant about attaining that (pushy to the point of being a tiny bit rude, especially on Mai's side, imho). They apparently don't really know where the boundaries lie on the spectrum of human relationships (and I doubt they have yet understood the nuance of the transition from friendship to romance, much less the overlap of being friend and being lover, or that stable lovers are also true good friends of each other), and I suspect they don't know much about what those things entail and how they really feel, aside from superficial ideas, and now they try to show the other the way? Hilarity would ensue.

The upside is that these two appear to be nice people and do care about the other's wellbeing, so this will be a fluffy read on top of the comedy they bring.

^ While I agree that within what is shown in the show, Mary has about the least amount of chemistry, I think it's because unlike the others (except Anne) who are still developing their feelings for Bakarina and coming to understand those feeling (which is the heart throbbing phase that has the most potential to show chemistry), Mary had finished that phase very early. Everything Mary does afterward are sticking close to Bakarina, underhandedly indulging in a few moments of overflowed thirst (that episode where the harem got sucked into the magical book, Mary was excluded because then the show's rating would surely skyrocket), and thinking up plans to sway Bakarina toward her side (because Mary loves Bakarina and respects her choices), not exactly the right material to show chemistry.
The author also wanted to steer the story toward Maria, who strayed into Bakarina's well of gravity 7 years later than other and yet still the MC of the game.
And most importantly, Bakarina is Bakarina, denser than a blackhole and too concerned about her doom flags to even notice and examine her own feelings in respond to her harem's presence, much less the harem members' feelings for her. One sided chemistry is hard.

^ Maria route is pure and gentle, but personally I prefer the thirsty fiery passionate Mary, who has a clear sight about what she wants, been open about it, and has plans to make it a reality. Bakarina just have to say yes once, and Mary will drop everything ang trample upon every obstacles to elope with her immediately and build a bountiful garden where they can enjoy working together as they settle down.

Why does she have scars?

She has those scars in the manga. I don't think it's been revealed how she got them though.

She got them scars back when she was way younger, saved the world in some epic battle. In chapter 73 Mikan ("citrus") scolded Momo ("peach") for not called her or their friend Budo ("grape") to assist in that battle, resulting in those scars.
