Ah~ this is slowly (no pun intended) becoming one of my all-time favs. That chapter was just so nice. Only Matsuri sees the little difference in Himawari-san. This is my kind of Iyashikei~

Yeah, something like that was exactly what i was thinking. Something like her sister was really sleazy when no one was around or that she sleep with some of the teachers to get good grades or something along those lines. You know, the usual stuff people say about the popular girls in manga.

I was only thinking along the line of her having similar weaknesses to Touko. The sleeping around thing doesn't seem like something Nakatani would write, but who knows

the contrast thought between Yuu and Touko during the phone call is really frightening if i would say. Dunno if i could say this chapter as full fluff. I'd rather say this chapter is sweet-bitter (yes, not bittersweet just because).

Definitely. It wouldn't be YagaKimi if there was no underlying conflict in the scenes where, on the surface, everything seems to go well. That's why I said pure fluff-ish since this is the sweetest (IMO) & most tension-free (on the surface) chapter we've gotten so far. But that entire phone call scene is taking miscommunication to a new level. Touko can't see Yuu's face and expressions (true feelings) and thinks that Yuu is still the same "I can't feel anything" person based on her voice and Touko's own preconception. While, in actuality, Yuu, on the other end, is just letting her feelings slip out without any restraints in her expressions and actions (Dat curling!). So yes, I agree, it's sweet-bitter lol

That phone scene was a gem of visual storytelling. <3 This author is so good at creating faint emotions from mundane scenes.

Anyways, chapter was cute, but we all know everything's going to change once summer camp starts and i'm pretty sure that guy at the end of the previous chapter would be the cause of it. Doubt it would be romance related, but he doesn't look like good news to me

I think Touko will learn from him a side of her sister that she's never known of, which will throw her off as it'll mess with the ideal image she's been trying to attain this entire time.

Pure fluff chapter! (-ish). That phone call scene! I can't. Yuu is too precious ; A ;

Also, the talk with Natsuki & how she said that Yuu had never cried no matter what. Betcha Yuu will break down crying because of Touko in later chaps

I wish another studio had adapted Rakugo Shinjuu instead of DEEN. If it had had amazing visuals on top of the already good writing, there wouldn't be much competition. But sadly, 3-gatsu is still around and that has both good writing and good production value all around. Well, can't complain, this is a good season after all, with several 7-8 shows, albeit mostly sequels, & a masterpiece. Good enuff for me. So far:

God-tier: Nyanko Days

Top 5: 3-gatsu, Rakugo Shinjuu 2, LWA, Gintama., & KonoSuba 2.

Other nice anime: Maid Dragon & Demi-chan.

Still hanging around: Yojou Senki, Acca, & Gabriel Dropout.

I also watched ep 2 of KnH to see Ecchan. Both her & the anime look beautiful. But I can't stand soap opera shit, so I don't think I should officially pick this up.

She does state in her recent interviews & in vol.1 extra that she didn't see her Touhou works as yuri because they are not of romantic nature. I mean, she only drew girls kissing & f*cking. Nothing yuri about that.

but it's still fascinating to see how far she's come—from "yuri is fine, I guess" to drawing a successful yuri manga that runs in freaking Dengeki Daioh.

Nakatani was destined by the yuri gods to draw yuri. I'm glad she's no longer in denial that her works are hella gay.

Sometimes you see a mainly BL/het artist discover a gateway yuri series and go "oh hey girls are cute too", then fast forward a few years and they've completely fallen down the yuri rabbit hole.

Sounds like me & my journey down the yuri rabbit hole.

Another thing of note is that she apparently doesn't draw a clear line between friendship, trust and romance? (私は友情や信頼と恋愛の間にさほど明確な違いがあるとは思っていません —someone please tell me if I misunderstood this) Not sure if she specifically means in her Touhou doujins or if it's something that can be applied to Bloom Into You.

From my understanding, Nakatani sees YagaKimi as her first real attempt at yuri romance, but I do feel like the "unclear relationships" characteristic of her doujin works do creep into YagaKimi a bit.

Thought the art looked rlly similar to Comprehensive Tovarisch & ofc, it's the same author. Love the art & the story so far is fun. Can't wait to read the rest~

Well, apparently I'm the only person here who is bloody tired of love triangle as a cheap resort to add drama. It's because cliches are so overused that so many Yuri works fall into the same formula over and over again, and why this particular work was so refreshing.

But love triangle just for the sake of drama? That's cheap and overused. Sure, one of the angles in this triangle is all up for poly and the other doesn't mind, but it's still build up so it can lead to drama, something that was refreshingly absent in this work.

Drama is not default terrible/cliche writing. Just because a series has drama doesn't mean that it's bad. It depends on how well the drama is handled. As you said, this love triangle is set up to possibly explore poly. So to say that it's only there for the sake of drama is contradicting. Also, this series is not completely free of drama. The gardening arc has its drama.

Oh, a love triangle with a poly girl & two others with complete opposite views on the poly girl's definition of love? Interesting~ Probably among the most interesting arcs we have so far. At this point, I feel like Canno is planning on writing AnoKiss forever, exploring more & more interesting dynamics, which means we should officially forget that Ayaka x Yurine exists if we haven't already.

I hate it, but i don't think everyone hates it, theres a reason its getting an anime after all. I also think it has potential to sell well thanks to its highly erotic moments, soap-opera-ish drama, highly seductive character designs and partial nudity. Also the fact that theres a stereotypical sympathetic "good guy" who gets the short end of the stick makes this appealing for any non-yuri fan not familiar with the source material. Citrus is a good candidate too since it also has seductive character designs and soap-opera-ish drama, some comedy here and there and the highly popular topic in Japan for some reason, incest! Or well, pseudo-incest which is still pretty popular in Japan. But i still think this would be highly dependant on the studio that animates it, since it doesn't have erotic moments past the 2nd or 3rd chapter.

As much as I also don't like Citrus & NTR, in a way I'm still hoping for their successes if that means I can get my long-awaited YagaKimi anime. NTR has NTR & Citrus has pseudo-incestry, both are gold mines in the eyes of the Japs, so they have a chance of doing well, I think, idk. NTR is definitely being adapted by Deen. Those leaked character arts don't lie LOL As for Citrus, I'm actually wondering how they're planning on adapting Saburouta's art style. I guess TMS entertainment is a fine choice for Shoujo art style.

Hmm, i didn't know that since i haven't watched any of its other shows besides Sakura Trick, which i think it was decent. I just assumed they would be a good choice since they're not afraid of adapting yaoi or yuri works and i heard from a friend of mine that Super Lovers was kinda good. But besides KyoAni, what other studio would you like to see animate YagaKimi?

Deen can produce good work if they try (Rakugo Shinjuu is one of the best 2016 anime), but I can't trust them completely, especially when it comes to handling one of my all time favorite yuri manga. As mentioned before, Lerche or J.C.Staff is my second choice.

@Kal3d They adapt the most yuri/yaoi works in general so the chance of them adapting YagaKimi if it does get an anime is high. But, I'm not exactly a fan of their art/animation works tho. It's either rlly bad or just plain unimpressive. I'm a big fan of YagaKimi's art & visual storytelling bits in it, so I don't want Deen to ruin that.

Just curious, if YagaKimi gets its anime, which studio do you guys want to adapt it?

For me, it's for sure NOT Deen LOL (even if they made one of the best anime of 2016). I think J.C.Staff's animation work with Amanchu was great. Tho, looking at Lerche's upcoming Kuzu no Honkai, I think they can do a fine job with this series, too. In the end, I'm still hoping that KyoAni will adapt this series, cuz idk, their overall style & feel (like how things are presented & how the stories are told, rather than the artwork itself) seem to fit this series a lot.

^ I guess you're right. It's funny cuz I've seen a lot of people commenting on how they went into this manga, expecting cutesy romance, but ended up realizing that it's a much heavier read instead. I guess this cover design will only cause more misconception lol
