Basic genre assumption would be that she died, but seems more like senpai never reciprocated her feelings.

The way I read it, the girl did confessed to the senpai who cares for her, but senpai rejected, probably didn't want to change the then current friendship, and then suddenly died before any other progress were made. Really an emotion equivalent of stubbing toes to read this one.

Well, first of all, there is quite some differences between "real life drama" and "drama exists, kind of like in real life", let's not lump them both together. Secondly, while purely comedic romcoms exist, they tend to go stale after a while for being kind of monotone, no matter how cheery the tone is, so if the author wants to add flavours and/or make the story have a little more complexity, it's their choice to make it that way, especially when they have the chance to expand (as opposed to getting axed or the magazine where the story was being published having problem or getting cancelled itself). Feel free to move on if it's not to your taste.

Arata Iri-sensei has always been about chaotic comedy, and now that she wants to take advantage of the reboot to add some more crazy elements to the story, I'm all for it, since so far this series is going well imo, and I'm intrigued in how it would turn out. (and the art being more polished than the first run is a big plus)

The art style seems strongly resemble Takahashi Rumiko's works (1/2 Ranma, Inu Yasha,...) to me. (Damn, it's already been more than 20 years since I first read those series. I feel old)

I want to believe it is her cheongsam and not body painting, but it looks so impossibly sticking to the skin for me to ignore. That's just not how tight clothes work.

Gods damn, it gets dark. Young Momo was tricked into facilitating a fking genocide of the very people she's entrusted to protect; Uriel, a Light clan familiar, was enslaved, and then most likely silenced via death; Metako was lobotomized to the point of only capable of saying his last comprehensible sentence over and over, and the bitch responsible to all this was spared by Young Momo's soft heart, and poised to return. Ito-sensei is really breaking the mold of typical 4-koma right here, on a Kirara's series no less.

^ the way I read it, Miyako seems to have implied that Hana is better naked. So Hana is right to be a little mad.

Nagori's works sometimes have hints of some darker stuffs working in the background, but by this one and "Witch and Apprentice Sister" (feel being in like same universe, really) those darker elements seem a bit more prominent than usual :-??

Sera is a bit of an airhead and spends most of her focus on art, but Ruriko had the patience to indulge her friend and wait a whole 5 years (one fifth of her life up to that point) to proceed with the plan, now they are married, she has ample chance to build up. I believe in her.
