So Taiwan is set to be the first Asian country to pass same-sex marriage? That's pretty cool. Good luck to them and I hope it does happen.

Ah, I loved Wizards of Waverly Place too. The movie was pretty great, which is where that song came from if I recall correctly.

I only recently listened to umped version of original opening and new ending (never watched the HD version, which honestly is only that, so the anime is still a clusterfuck not worth watching), but I just loved this ending and I don't even think of it as a Fate/Stay music, cos I encountered outside of franchise (actually until now I didn't even know it was new ending, I just thought it was some original song for umped opening single). Regardless if Fate is good or not, it has some good songs, so I think you should treat them as such. Just piece of music.

You're absolutely right, I know, and I do try. It's just that the awful effect playing Fate/Stay Night had on me can't exactly be underestimated. I wasn't exaggerating when I said it's the only thing I actively hate on. Maybe it was the circumstance at the time, but it was really bad; I had completely different expectations for it since I came into it from watching a bit of Fate/Zero and deciding I wanted to experience Fate/Zero with the knowledge from the original game.

I was incredibly naive at the time since even though I knew it was an eroge, I thought that "Surely it can't be porn, it's probably some completely normal sex scene that isn't meant to titillate the player but instead has some purpose to the plot as to why it's being explicitly shown. After all, Fate/Zero was pretty mature." Ahh, I was so wrong, so very wrong.

I should've known the writer of Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay Night are completely different too.

On a lighter note. Some nice music to soothe the soul:

Haha, dang it. I was gonna move away from the heavy atmosphere from all the politics and relax with the music Nevri listed and the first link HAD to be Fate/Stay Night, which is an instant migraine inducer for me. :(

The Fate/Stay Night game and its sequel might be the only thing in all of fiction that I actively hate on, but I at least can thank it for eventually leading into the creation of Fate/Extra, which I love.

I thought people who complain about "sjw" unironically are not supposed to be taken seriously nowadays. Is this still a thing that people have issues with?

"confirmed canon at Animagic 2014 Attack On Titan Panel by producer George Wada with Isayama Hajime"

I know I phrased it as a question in my previous post, but I am pretty sure it's 100% canon; I always was ever since I saw that announcement, and so were the other people I've seen who know of the pairing.

I'm fairly certain canon can easily be established outside the story through:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WordOfGod

Side Note: Even if it were just the producer, it's still canon in its own right. Adaptations have their own canon that is separate from the source material since adaptations are meant to stand on their own.

“Die Charaktere Christa und Ymir in der Tat ein Pärchen seien." = "The characters Christa and Ymir are in fact a couple.”

Uh...doesn't this mean they are actually fully canon though?

It has been a long time since I have played it, but Soul Nomad had a non-subtext yuri route? Do you mean with the Childhood friend in one of the evil routes or something else?

Nope, I think I remember the archer party member having a non-subtext ending. To be honest, I couldn't make myself try out the evil routes because I already got attached to the characters.

Heh, this makes me want to say how I really appreciate this website's forum in general. Maybe I just got lucky, but I haven't seen any terribly toxic content being said here by any users. It's almost like a safe space in the internet since any other comment section I've seen has had its fair share of unpleasant people. So thanks everyone for being nice! / thanks mods for being good at your job!

I also appreciate the surprising amount of variety of people here. Over the years I've been silently browsing through the forums, I've seen a multitude of languages being used by people to converse with each other. Makes me regret taking so long to finally create an account since for the longest time I never comment on anything. I think yuri is actually the first topic that compelled me enough to actually talk in the internet.

The demo is out too by the way. It's pretty good. Every character and couple, in my opinion, is interesting in their own way. I already like what I've seen of the couples so far more than the ones in Ne No Kami at least.

For the people out there who have actually played Summon Night 5, is romancing Ruelly exclusive to Arca or is it available for Folth too? I'm just curious and I have no desire to play as Folth.

I still think it's pretty cool they have a non-subtext yuri route this time around. That's the third fairly mainstream japanese srpg that I've encountered that has a yuri route: along with Fire Emblem Fates and Soul Nomad.

people flipping out saying RWBY is homophobic because it has Blake hanging out with Sun this season honestly the first episode came out YESTERDAY and people are flipping out sweet Leviathan I don't want Blake to end up with Sun either but if it happens I won't say it's because Roosterteeth is sexist it's because thats what they want sure I'll be annoyed but mostly because I think Sun and Blake work the best as friends

Ooh, this is going to be good; I have to see this now. I'm rooting for Yang and Blake of course, but seeing people lose it over nondescript interactions between Sun and Blake is going to be fun solely because it's great seeing how passionate people can be over this stuff. I'm admittedly going to be annoyed too though if their interactions unnaturally become substantial at any point.

Another yuri-related visual novel with three female routes recently came out: 'Catch Canvas'.
It's not entirely yuri since the protagonist can be either male or female, but after finishing it I can say that it's not a pronoun swap like Huniepop was; there was definitely situations exclusive to the female protagonist. Be warned though that it's not exactly independent routes, but more like you go through the game and at the very end choose one out of three endings dedicated to each girl.

I really need to stop visiting the conspiracy side of the internet by accident...all these talks about a potential WWIII is starting to make my head hurt...

With the way the year is progressing so far, it's not really that unexpected. I found it appropriate that there was an actual petition directed at the universe to skip 2016 entirely because everyone wanted off the wild ride.

One thing I'd like to add about the whole otome game and yuri game comparison discussion, is that I feel like people who like yuri are less tolerant of added-on het route than otome fans are of yuri routes tacked on to otome games. I think this is why we very rarely get to see het routes in yuri games. (Does Katahane count as one?)

I'm not sure how this VN works, but I guess you weren't being a manipulative asshole and all? You know, is there actually any romance in this or is it just sex? It seems like the only two characters who the MC can have an actual relationship with are The Beauty and the... Stalker?, but I'm kind of unsure now if there's actual love involved...

Alright, to address some points here:
1st point: Yeah, no, I was manipulative. In fact, that was what I focused on. You could say I focused on screwing with everyone instead of actually screwing everyone: Blackmail, humiliation, steering the conversation into my character's favor; you name it. There's a gameplay mechanic that sort of requires you to be manipulative, so that's what I did to get the most amount of...points.

2nd point: There's definitely love involved. That's why I said that I was very satisfied with my first and only ending in the game, since it was happy all around (well, at least for me and the partner that I chose out of the two).

To make the whole routes thing in this game clear: The only routes that are actually significant that you can get in this game are with The Beauty and The Stalker -- that's why the website said that those two are the only pursuable options. Even if you have sex with the others, those are pretty inconsequential to the main story. I don't even think they affect anything (I say 'think' because my character didn't have sex with anyone besides my main route which was The Beauty). I saw a description someone made of the 'het rape' scene and they said that afterwards, the whole event was never brought up again nor was it ever acknowledged after that -- so that backs up my point.

An apt comparison would be the Social Links of Persona 3 and 4. That aspect of the gameplay didn't really change the endings of those games nor did they change the flow of the main story; they are inconsequential to the narrative. Same with this game. I repeat, INCONSEQUENTIAL. I still find it completely understandable if the het routes put you off, but please don't condemn the game for it.

The only thing that is actually significant to the ending is the number of points that you get. I found out later that my social manipulation was a good idea since the happy ending I got apparently relied on those points. Obviously getting enough suspicion will get you kicked off the boat and will alter the story as well.

In short: the things that actually affect the ending are the suspicion and the points that you get in-game, and possibly how you go about the main route.

In game speak: If you're going to be min/maxing this visual novel, just look at the side routes as a way to get points from people and avoiding suspicion long enough to reach the ending. You don't need to care how you deal with other people's nonsense since the game is gracious enough to warn you if this particular dialogue option will result with more suspicion or more points in your favor; you don't even need to read what that dialogue choice is. Pretty convenient for people wanting to min/max.

Not saying people should accept the het routes because they don't have narrative substance, but I just wanted to clarify the kind of routes this game has that are fairly unique when compared to other visual novels.

You know, the last time I asked this was kind of an expression of displeasure, but IS there anyone on the ship you can't have sex with?

The maid I think, which sucks to be honest considering I think of her as the best character in the game. She might as well be fanservice with all the references she makes but it was still effective for me.

Weird, did I have the most celibate playthrough possible in the game without realizing it? I did not have any sexual relations with any man or woman in the ship besides The Beauty.

Tl;dr: Treat the game as an erotica; everyone banging each other isn't out of place nor is it aiming anywhere near close to realism. The tone of the game is light-hearted throughout and encountering the scene in question could be easily avoided. Also, please don't say the game is entirely about BDSM, that could also be easily avoided.

Whoa, this whole thing got bigger than I thought it would. I'll just pitch in my opinion as someone who's finished a playthrough and has a general feel of the tone of the game:

In retrospect, while I can see why people would react harshly of that thing that happens, it's nothing exactly out of place. This isn't exactly spoilers, but you are able to seduce and sleep with female characters who assume for the majority of the route that you're your brother. This entire game feels pretty much like erotica so every route ending with potential sexual encounters is hardly unexpected now that I think about it. With that in mind, I don't think this scene in question is going to blindside players; there would probably be a lot of indications of what is going to happen and it'll give them plenty of chances to back out (Like with the example I've provided about her cousin) since encountering this scene would have to entail that the player deliberately goes through this route dedicated to this guy. Does this mean they should expect to have sex with him? Of course not, but like with the cousin scenario I had a really well-indicated chance to back out. I feel silly for instantly believing that it's "het rape" considering that despite the sexual tension between almost every character in the game, it would still be out of place for that to be in there.

Last thing I'd say is that there are multitude of routes in this game and you won't even be able to finish all of them in one go. If anyone's played Persona 3/4 before, it's like those social links except you can't (from my knowledge) actually squeeze everything in a single playthrough. You can easily miss this scene because I certainly didn't know it even existed until this forum pointed it out. While I do not want to encounter the scene, I'm not going to deny it to anyone who wants to.

I'd also like to point out that saying a thing is not something one would expect from someone else, doesn't necessarily mean that they've betrayed your expectations or something as dramatic as that. It could easily just mean, you know, you just didn't expect it?

The game is still great in my opinion, and is definitely worth a shot. Please try not to fixate too much on the fact that you have a sexual encounter with a guy since that's just a possibility that the player will have to purposefully aim for.

So we've got an easily avoidable "maybe het" that gives you plenty of chances to back out?

It's not just plenty of chances, it's the first option that pops up; not to mention the protagonist is clearly very uncomfortable with the idea (at least at first). I guess what sort of bothers me is that the "default" thing that she will do, should the player not interject with choices, is to agree.

Edit: Uh, scratch that, I just remembered the other option that pops up later on in the conversation is kinda worse in the sense that it implies the protagonist takes the initiative using a "flirting" option.

I'll confirm one het thing though that I definitely encountered in-game: In a subsequent playthrough I had, I tried out a route dedicated to your guy cousin. In the final part of the route, he suggests that you guys make out in the library once he invites you there (which absolutely came out of nowhere I might add, the entire chemistry before that was a really nice bro-kind of friendship). I immediately refused, but I noticed that the option was there to not refuse and move the conversation along. I...kinda wanted to prove to myself that that can't possibly lead to anything actually happening so I went back later to see where it went, but before I knew it my character agreed saying she...couldn't say no and it wasn't entirely unappealing? Do note that at that point I completely backed out of that save file before any scene or any vague description appeared, so hey, maybe nothing actually happens with your dudebro cousin.

DAMN IT, I just finished Ladykiller in a Bind and really enjoyed it, and now I learn there was het rape?!
I had a really gay experience with the game, that is honestly the last thing I thought it would have. Did not even cross my mind. Had no sexual encounters with guys.

Never expected it from Christine Love either, it's almost surreal seeing something like that in one of her works. I played Hate and Hate Plus and with all the messed up stuff that went on there it still never went to that territory.

Even though B-ko uses the word "rape", it isn't actually a rape because A-ko indicates enthusiastic consent. So it might be rough sex, but it isn't rape because both parties consent. A-ko having sex with B-ko on the other hand is rape because B-ko clearly indicates her lack of consent.

Pretty straightforward.

Oh, I assumed they were talking about the idea of mutual rape in general after reading the story. Yeah, the story itself clearly shows the consent the second time through.

The argument against it was that they only do it because of the virus but since every character we see clearly enjoys it to some degree it is safe to assume they were totally gay before being infected. Also some characters don't shy from doing it just for pleasure and as I mentioned there are at least few outright confirmed couples. Basically at the beginning people considered all characters straight and they only kiss (if only that was it) to use their power, but as you watch it further and further it become clear how gay (at least majority of) those characters are.

The show is totally yuri, but because it never tried to hid that it is aiming for male audience as well and isn't just all about fluff, a lot "yuri purist" shunned it saying it doesn't count and is just male porn trash.

Alright, I think I got the gist of it. Thanks for explaining the nitty-gritty of the whole thing.

The anime doesn't really interest me, but I'm a bit interested in the game just for the fact that it's basically a gayer senran kagura or a senran kagura that commits a bit (or much?) more to its yuri.

Is it also right to assume that since it's the senran kagura creator's project, it's the ps vita game out of the three (Mermaid, Siren, Bhikkhuni) that will get more direct attention focused on it? I assume that developing games is what that creator does best, so this will be the work that he will focus on, and the anime and social game will be relegated to other studios.
