I like Madoka's line on page 6, stating that KyoSaya and MadoHomu are both established couples in this story. It makes the whole thing cuter, somehow.

That makes it better for me too. Mami is kinda lost with the established pairings (unless you make her pedo) and having the other relationships open for their senpai is kinda sweet.

The end is not bad or good. It's quite open, with a timeskip of 7 years. Not necessarily a yuri ending, but at least it's not a het ending.

Personally that sounds like a bad end to me.

It is probably not cheating as in having sex with other girls but more like flirting and stuff.

I think the story would have taken a completely different turn if that were the case. Question is, is that a good or bad thing? .

How can you blame any studio for not making yuri? It is not like they sit in their dark rooms and think of ways how to be mean to yuri fans ;)
KyoAni simply adopts a novel and obviously has some fans of romantic interactions of girls in their staff. But the romance plots are simply in the novel, it is hard to change that in an adaptation that ultimately is also a promotion for said novel.

They follow the novel. Not really that big of a surprise.

The worst thing happening would be to end the Manga with another harem joke involving Shirou but i hope the writer is better then that and at least ends it with an Illya, Miyu and Kuro (i expect her to vanish...) 'friendship' scene.

Are you talking about the original Fate? Beside Shirou, the males don't show up in Prisma Illya until the end of 2wei (and none of them even meets Illya's Shirou). And almost everything in Prisma Illya is played as jokes until the main story kicks in.

Illya-vers's Shirou's friends are quite gay for him. And in 3rei Illya is very desperate for Miyu with her Shirou not even showing up.

Anybody who thinks that the Ending will be anything but Illya/Miyu (with or without subtext) has very big hetgoggles or is just a massive Shiroufag.

Ahem. I wouldn't really recommend Illya unless you're a Fate fan. I've got quite a few problems with it, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the heck out of it. If we're talking yuri, it's all just subtext (better word would just be fanservice). Mana transfer kisses blah blah. At the end of the line, it's still Shirou's harem in a world where he's a side character. All the girls want his d sans Miyu.

Adding to what OriginalGengar asked: Do you also not think that yuri is for a niche audience? Cuz it is.

Of course yuri is niche Late Night. Anime itself is pretty niche. But it sells if done right or if it is just a part in a bigger show. I have no idea where that "yuri does not sell" comes from. Of course it does not sell if the shows are shit. Look at Sakura Trick. The show had nothing but kisses. The humor was mediocre at best and the characters not all that interesting. Of course it would not sell. A hetero show would sell just as bad.

About the genre thing. Yes i think yuri should not be classified as a genre. It can be part of something but is not a genre itself. What kind of a genre would yuri be? it is always part of romance/comedy/etc.

I'm anticipating a perfectly happy ending.

Of course we will see a happy ending. But first we need some really pointless drama i guess.
