That was a fine ending. Though that escalated pretty quickly to the roof's edge lol.

It did escalate quickly, but not quite as fast as it looks. Oops, I overlooked a set Japanese phrase at the end of chapter 5, so my translation was slightly off. It should have read I made my own poison apple. I want to eat it, and completely disappear. In other words, she was already becoming suicidal before being taken to the infirmary. So it was still pretty sudden, but it was triggered by the shock of Funiwara wanting to stop the pretend romance, and her thinking it meant she had been dumped. So it wasn't as sudden as it seems.

By the way, I will be uploading a corrected version of chapter 5 shortly.

Thought I'd add my take on the girls school thing. My impression is that Miu was thinking that her mom must be used to the idea of girl girl romances since she went to a girls school. I didn't get any feeling that either of them expected it to end after graduation. After all, Miu's mom basically said "Go to France so that you can marry her." That doesn't sound to me like it's supposed to end.

We must also address the fact that she picked her up price style from the other side of the fence. How does one get a hold of someone's legs when the fence is in the way? If you slipped up the tiniest bit, we'd end up needing a Nice Boat. ( Look up Nice Boat if you don't know what it means )

Don't ask me, I'm just the translator/editor, but I thought she lifted Miu over the fence with both hands placed under the arms, then swept her off her feet. As for myself, I didn't now this series existed back then, or I would have bought it immediately. But I still had a similar experience. When I saw First Love Sisters in the bookstore, I bought it on the spot. Then the second volume never came out. Eventually, years later, I learned of the existence of fan scanlations, so I tracked down the scanlations of volumes two and three.That led me to fan recommendations for Girl Friends. And once I read that, there was no going back.

Yes I would very much like those scans. If you let me have them, I will officially pick it up and do it about the same time that I do the extra from Tsubomi vol 10. That one is a 4 page short about Tsumugi x Beniko.

That one's easy. Hugging is not perverted. What was perverted was taking her by surprise and forcing a hug that was clearly unwanted and unwelcome. Note the forceful hand to the face as a reaction (and the hand she managed to get between them in a failed effort to prevent the hug). And then of course trying to practically strong arm her into dating.

Yes, that's definitely the final chapter. I will be doing this one next after the two chapters of The Last Uniform I'm almost done with. I'm also sure I'll do it faster than I did chapter 5.

I'm not going to make any advance comments about this one other than it looks extremely good (in my opinion). I'm sure there will be a tank; I'm hoping for an extra chapter, but even if there's not, there will still be interesting extra material surely.

I don't know about the others, but I've been buying Yuri Hime (a physical copy) from Japan since around the time I started scanlating. I got my copy of the current issue just the other day and immediately noticed that "interesting" chapter.

As for where, or if, they are available online, I have no idea.

Yeah, I had forgotten that small scratch in chapter 1 and either overlooked or forgot the the blood in chapter 2. But as Shadow says, it's a lot more serious looking in chapter 5. And its still worse in chapter 6, though not around the eye. I don't see how there's no broken bones, though apparently there aren't any.

I'll add one more thing to my spoiler: The only ones bleeding so far through chapter 6 are one or the other of those two, no bystanders.

I've been debating whether to say this, but I've been looking ahead in Huri Hime. (Spoilers ahead, I mean it!) First blood is drawn in chapter 5 (with a hairpin), and it get worse in chapter 6. That's the latest issue, so I don't know about after that. Of course they stay very cutely in love during all this. I guess that's two yanderes for you. I'll let you discover the details for yourselves.

I'm been assuming that the reason that there's been no recent updates is that the second and final volume has been licensed by Seven Seas and is due out in mid April. If you want to read it, then please buy it and support both Seven Seas and Morinaga Milk.

Now that chapter 5 is out (I was slow) I'll complete my incomplete phrases from my spoiler post.

I'll admit, I was shocked over several things in this chapter, especially when Fujiwara cut her hair. And then Fujiwara said she wanted to stop; ouch. I hope Miu will finally find the courage to tell Fujiwara how she really feels (and vice versa).

I was tearing up because I thought Neru was going to die for sure. QwQ

I hadn't paid much attention to the tags before I started reading, but... I kept rechecking the tags to make sure the tragedy tag wasn't there, first, when the goddess said that to Neru before her transform, again when it looked like she'd turn back, and somewhere in between there. I would probably have stopped reading if I'd seen that tag. But as it's absence said, there was no tragedy.

I kissed a smoker once; the taste was pretty nasty. But she neither became my girlfriend nor quit smoking.

By the way, I can't get close to cigarette smoke since it gives me both a sore throat and a headache.

I've never had a crush on a teacher myself, but I love a tastefully done student-teacher yuri like this one.

I prefer the physical copies, and I probably always will, even after I finally get a reader or pad. I like holding the book in my hand, and will read the physical copy in preference to the digital. And if I want to read in bed, it's a pain to bring the computer with me. (Of course when I get a reader, which I'm sure I eventually will, it will surely be much easier to use in bed then a laptop.) And if I want to read in the bath... It's been a long time since I read in the bath, but I once dropped a book in the tub (it didn't completely submerge); it suffered some, but not a lot of, water damage. If it were a reader, there goes an expensive machine (no I don't think I would ever use a reader in the tub).

i read a lot of that a while back, before I realized that the romance is actually kinda creepy in many ways. i do appreciate the scenes where the female lead is like "fuck expectations, i'm going to take matters into my own hands and actually succeed". That's one of the things I especially like about Dengeki Daisy, for that matter. Those scenes where Teru is like "I know what the villain expects me to do, but I ain't NOBODY'S stereotype".

Yes, the romance is in some ways kinda creepy, but I've seen much worse and I very much liked this one. I personally don't think any of the creepiness comes from the leads themselves, unless it's that they are so strongly tied to each other that they'd die if separated (and that's common in romance stories). And I, too, like the way the female lead would often take things into her own hands. I read all 15 volumes and it has a lot of positives and does come to a happy end. Aah, but its up to you whether you'd want to give it another chance.

edit: Having said all that, I think I've talked myself into rereading it soon.

What I'd like to find is something like Mushishi or XXXHolic, with a mysterious atmosphere and heavily based in folklore, maybe a bit stylish while we're at it. Or maybe with that feel of discovering unseen facets of the world, like the bits of YKK where Alpha is travelling, or the Cait Sith-related parts of Aria. One of the things that attracts me to Touhou, for instance, is the creative take on Japanese folk stories, so other stuff that relies on the same would be appealing.

I don't know if this qualifies, but I would recommend Black Bird by Kanoko Sakurakoji. If focuses on a human girl who has special value to demons (not necessarily alive), and a tengu yokai (black bird demon). Heavy doses of het romance, action/drama and traditional Japanese folk tails. It is the most recent het work I've gotten into; if I remember right, I found it after I was already getting into yuri (that is after Girl Friends).

edit: This has been licensed and published in English, though I think there may be a scanlation out there. (if you look at the scanlation and like it, please support it by buying the licensed version.)

Showing your age, huh? I hold in my hand a VHS videotape of the movie adaption of The Last Unicorn. I haven't thought of that story in years. Oops, pretend you didn't hear all that. If you ask my age I'll say "I tell people I'm 29."

I don't normally go for this kind of manga, but I started reading it to see what it was like, then read it all the way through (I had to search out an old translation of the final 3 chapters). It was very well written, but it would have been devastating to come across it un-forewarned. So I really appreciate the spoiler you included.

I wonder what kind of contract mangakas sign with publishing houses.
When the magazines just disappear because are considered not profitable enough, do they keep the manga's intellectual property rights?
So the mangaka cannot even continue publishing the rest of the story elsewhere?

That may be the case. When Morinaga Milk left Yuri Hime (I don't know why she left), she wasn't able to finish Kisses, Sighs, and Cherry-Blossom Pink until Comic High bought the rights to it from Yuri Hime.

I checked my copies of Hirari, and there is one more chapter in vol 14. Whether there is or will be any more after that, I have no idea. (For instance, if there's going to be a tank, it might have a bonus chapter.) I only glanced at it and didn't try to read it, but it looks like the sleepover continues. For more, wait for the release.
